Stretch Marks

Have any of you used (with previous pregnancies) any type of cream to try and eliminate stretch marks? With my son 5 years ago, I barely had a belly. I got one very slight stretch mark by my belly button. I feel like with this pregnancy I will be bigger.

From what I researched, there is no magical cream or oil to get rid of stretch marks. For the most part, they are genetic. If you drink plenty of water and use lotion on your skin daily, that is about all you can do. Spending money on expensive creams or oils that claim to eliminate or prevent stretch marks are a scam, in my opinion. My OB confirmed this.

My mom had 4 kids and never got a single stretch mark. I got tons of stretch marks though. Lotions, creams, drinking lots of water, yeah that did nothing for me.
I think part of the reason I got them so bad was I had a high amount of amniotic fluid. It was a good thing, but at 6 months, I was the same size that I was at 9 months. Being that big that long really did a number on my body.

If your mom didn't get stretch marks, then you probably won't either. You can ask your grandmother too. Neither of mine did and I didn't either.

Yep if you mom has stretch marks or if you have them from the teen growing years you will get them pregnant. You can spend a gazillion dollars on miracle creams and still get them. It sucks!

My mom never got stretch marks so I thought I was safe.

NO. I got them BAD and not until the last month and a half of my pregnancy. No amount of creams, lotions and potions I put on leading up their eventual arrival helped.

Hopefully you will have the same luck you had the first time!!

My dermatologist told me how I can get rid of my stretch marks from my previous pregnancy: tummy tuck.

You can't always rely on looking at your mom - my mom had four pregnancies and not a single stretch mark.

My sister had two babies, and her stomach looks "like Freddy Kreugar's Face" (in her words).

I'm somewhere in between - I have quite a few, but not the horror show my sister had.

You get genes from both sides... so better to took at what happened when you went through puberty. Do you have them on your hips, thighs, or boobs? Then you'll probably get them on your stomach, too.

I have some. They arent horrible and have faded lots over time. I knew id get them. I have them on my boobs from puberty. My mom has some but they arent to bad... Then again she has had a tummy tuck.

I got some on my boobs right after I had my first baby. Those were the only stretch marks I got though. My mom has some rough stretch marks so I must have gotten lucky. I used a lot of cocoa butter because in my opinion it kept my skin moisturized longer and I like the way it smells.

I got all the lotions oils creams etc I could get my hands on with my first baby and my stomach and boobs look like they have been attacked by a wild animal. ( my 3yr old actually believes this happened) some women just can't prevent it, while some go back to beautiful smooth bellys, which is bull shnit!!!! Lol jk.... But seriously ;(
