Trying to Get Pregnant

Hoping this is alright to ask..

I intro'd a week or so ago and have posted on a few different things.
But I have a question. My cycle is extremely long this time around going on day 45. Don't worry I won't ask if I'm pregnant I know how to POAS ;) BFN yesterday.
My question is since my cycles tend to be on the crazy side. Never shorter than 32 days and AF 8 days long. I want to know if chasteberry or vitamin c are things you ladies have tried. I've been reading up on them but I'm leaning on the cautious side. I want to try to get a little more regular but not sure these are good options for me. Some of the reviews say they could do more harm than good. Just want to know if any of you are currently taking either and how they are working?

  • Thanks. I'm probably in the completely wrong thought about cycles. Still learning for sure. 45 days is just the longest so far for me but I do realize many lady's can go into the 50 ' s or higher

I've never taken either, except vit C as part of multivitamin. I have heard that chasteberry can give you even longer cycles. I don't imagine the vit C can do too much harm, as it is a water soluble vitamin and any excess is simply peed out. That said, I am very hesitant about self-medicating. I think you are being wise leaning to the cautious side!

  • Definitely stay away from chasteberry, but I don't see how vit C could hurt too much. I have long cycles (my shortest was 42, usually closer to 70), but I've learned that's just how they are.

  • Thanks! I am glad I didn't just go ahead and buy the sstuff. I had a friend tell me to try it but since I've read more and more reviews I don't think I would feel comfortable doing so.

I know that long cycles suck, but generally be wary of OTC things that will mess with your body and hormones. As long as you're ovulating and don't hit CD 60, I'd just let it be.

It's late and I'm mobile, but if you search for vitex within TBs search it should bring up plenty of threads about it where it's been explained.

The short version: it fucks with your hormones and can cause more problems than its worth. Most "success" stories are people that started taking it and within a month or two got pregnant. But it takes like six months before you actually see any benefit (though bad side effects can be seen much sooner). So they're all full of shit.

  • In my personal experience, if you typically have very heavy periods, taking some extra Vitamin C in the week before your period may reduce the intensity of the flow. I can't promise it would help everyone the same way, though, and I don't recall it shortening the duration of menses.

  • My cycles before baby & BF were 33-40 days with 8 day periods. I'm not sure anything you describe is abnormal...
