Have you or do you plan on buying maternity underwear? If you are, what style do you suggest?

  • I did ok with regular underwear last time around. I eventually went up one size, but stuck with my normal brand and style.

  • Wait.  Wouldn't you have to buy maternity underwear  toward the end?  Don't you get a little bigger?

No but I plan on needing bigger ones! Just personal experience... Regular cotton bikini style. I like the ones from Gap.
Ahhh, I see.  Yeah, you could just go bigger.
  • Not buying "maternity" underwear - just a size or two up.  I lost 60 pounds over the past few years and never threw away my "fat underwear" so I've been wearing that.  They are all cotton high-waisted briefs that you buy in a six pack from target or walmart.  They hit right below the belly button and help me feel like they're holding in my tummy.

Not worth it in my opinion. Like others said I just got a bigger size. And I didn't spend alot of money on them.

  • I stayed in my same size. I am one of those people who only gain in the tummy though! I am not sure if people typically go up a size?

  • I voted no because I didn't know this was a thing. Boy do I have a lot to learn. Also, what is different about maternity underwear?

  • I'm too lazy to buy underwear. all mine are boy shorts or Brazilian (cheeky) so there comfy. I don't even wanna look at a thong lol
  • I wore regular underwear for my entire pregnancy and didn't go up a size, just wore them lower.

  • I bought them w/ last pregnancy and thought they were SO much more comfortable. I definitely will again.
  • I bought some last time. They were super comfy but were purchased more just because I needed some new underwear.

  • My underwear size never changed. There were one or two that didn't fit as well, but I've always had hips so I didn't get any wider. As long as your underwear is below your belly, you should be fine. I recommend getting some cheap cotton undies for after you give birth. The mesh panties the hospital gives you are WONDERFUL, but I was still bleeding long after those were gone.

  • I didn't even know maternity underwear was a thing and this is my second baby...

With DD my belly was pretty high so I stayed the same size in underwear.

  • I didn't even know there was such a thing as maternity underwear. I guess that shows how much of a FTM I am.  But I'll probably just go up a size or two in my usual style like other posters suggested.

  • I had a few pair when I was pg with DS. Not sure if I will buy more but I plan to enjoy the ones I have.
~I give up. No siggie for me~
  • I put yes because I already bought a 3 pack with my first pregnancy.  I mostly had underwear that was teeny from high school and college and I just wanted to feel comfy. (plus my butt did get bigger with the pregnancies!) I bought regular low-rise.  They are stretchy, comfy and cute design.  I liked them.

  • When I saw these at Motherhood Maternity with my 1st pregnancy I thought they were just a ploy to get pregnant women to spend more money. But they had a sale and I tried some. They were super comfy! I only bought a few pairs and postpartum I just used regular cotton ones sized up.

  • I have invested a decent amount of money in hanky pankies that are one size fits most and they are low cut and thongs. I think I will be fine through my pregnancy, but I am a ftm and if I need to, I will happily buy the maternity undies!
  • Yes because I bought a three pack with my first but barely wore them, but this pregnancy for some reason I'm already finding them more comfy than even my larger boy short cut undies. I'll probably just find some regular low rise undies for more though the maternity ones are pricey and I like them under my belly right now. I'm so bloated that anything across my belly is uncomfortable.
  • I bought them last pregnancy.  I went to a maternity store an naively bought everything they told me I would need.  Regular bikini underwear do the same thing.  I would definitely invest in some granny panties for post partum.

  • Motherhood maternity has these low rise hipsters that are the BEST undies I have ever worn. I got them as a gift from my DH in my stocking for Christmas when I was pregnant with my dd and I went back and bought every colour they had- even post pregnancy I still loved the way they fit and looked. A small v-cut in the front was super flattering!
