Diono Dry Seat Car Seat Protector?

Does anyone here use the Diono Dry Seat Car Seat Protector?  DD isn't officially potty training yet, but I anticipate she may start getting into it full force in the next 3-6 months.  Was thinking of getting these for our car seats to avoid taking the whole cover off with accidents (they're only $7.36 each on amazon right now).  Do they work well??

  • Also, it looks like the sides come up pretty high.  Thinking about how the harness comes up from the hips - does it interfere with buckling tight enough?  It looks like there should be cutouts for the buckles...

  • You could just use puppy pads. They can be cut to fit and are thin enough not to interfere with the seat in any way.

I just bought one, but we haven't used it yet. I'm sitting here looking at it, and it doesn't have buckle cut-outs and I can see what you are talking about. Its not ultra-thick material, so I don't think it would be an issue, but I am thinking it is going to get pulled in towards DD's legs under the harness.... I'll try to put it in sometime this weekend and let you know how it fits. I went with it cause it was the Diono one, but I didnt even notice the high sides
Thanks - let me know what you think!!

Sorry I didn't get back to you over the weekend. I didn't end up taking her anywhere the rest of the day Saturday or Sunday. I tried it out today though, and I think it is fine. I am really picky about making sure I can tighten the straps enough, and I didn't have any problem at all. The sides do get held against her body, but they only come up maybe to her hip, and they don't wrap over the top of her thighs at all (she is only 22 lb 11oz as of last Tuesday). The high sides mainly end up fitting into the gap that naturally exists between DD and where the seat belt comes in from the side of the seat. I think I actually like the high sides because if she really pees it will help keep it in the seat protector rather than running out the sides. The part that comes up in front of the crotch buckle almost comes up as high as the nylon part but not quite. Overall though I'm happy with it. We still had the lower toddler insert in (I'm not sure if I was supposed to, but she still seems small without something in there with her and i couldn't find a weight/height limit on the toddler part - infant head part was removed a long time ago of course). I had to take the toddler insert out to put the waterproof thing in. We will be keeping it. I hope that helps!
DD is 27lbs as of 2 weeks ago, and we just took the toddler insert out this weekend.  I took both car seats out of our cars, shook out the crumbs, wiped them down, and re-installed them to make sure they were still tight :P  So I figured I would take those inserts out while I was undoing everything else..

I think I might spring and get one to try out, and then get another for DH's car if we like it.  I'm thinking it might help for pee AND for the straw cup of water that I hesitate to give her because she sits back there and shakes it up and down!

Thanks for being my trial person :)
