fan/light combo vs light in nursery

What are your thoughts on putting an overhead fan/light combo in the nursery? It is worth it, or should I stick to just a light on a dimmer?

Our nursery is a blank slate right now and as we have been re-doing our house we have been adding overhead fans to the bedrooms. We do have A/C in the house; is it worth it? or stick to just a light?

Re: fan/light combo vs light in nursery

  • I third the fan option. A fan set on low can mesmerize the crankiest of crankys. My youngest (who will be two in October) asks for it when I put him down for his nap.

  • Another vote for a fan. Keeps air circulating and babies love to just stare at them.

We just bought a fan/light for the baby's room yesterday so that's my vote as well!

This, but in South Carolina. Have to keep the air moving.

  • Fan/light combo for same reasons listed as above.  We live in S GA, so not having a fan would just be crazy.

I will probably add a lamp too in case we want the option for dim lighting.

  • DS has a fan/light combo in his room. I also put a small lamp with a dimmer on his changing table for changing him during the night in the beginning.

This, it's nice to help the air circulate and it's very lite white noise for the baby

  • We have a fan light combo, and both parts are on separate dimmers. It's great! Don't use the fan too often yet other than playtime or when the AC went out, but know we'll use it more as he grows.
  • Another vote for fan!

  • We live in AZ, so all rooms must have a fan. It helps to keep the air circulated and DD cool in the warmer months. We also have a little table side light that we use at night.

  • Thanks everyone. I originally wanted to add the fan and then talked myself into thinking that it might not be a good choice for reasons unknown to me. We will stick to my plan and put the fan/light in and I'm planning on using a dimmer for the light portion of it.
