Daycare pricing by age? Room?

They just told me yesterday that Q is moving up to the toddler room in three weeks (damn!) so I emailed the director to double check the rate because I knew it went down but couldn't remember by how much.  She told me it doesn't go down by room, but by age and goes down when he's 15 months old.  It's not that I care because that's only a month later than when he moves rooms but it seems weird to me.  He will require the same level of care at 15 months as he does at 14 months (it's not like he'll be potty trained and he already feeds himself).  After the toddler discount, the rate does go down again but the next time it goes down by room when he moves to pre-school and not by age.  It just seems like an odd policy to me and I was wondering what you guys have found at your places.

    Ours goes by room and/or age. Bradley is 3 but he is still in the 2.5-3 class so we don't get the discount until he moves in August so it's by room but it would be by age if they moved up on time

    It is by room.  That being said, we sign a contract for our yearly tuition, and LO's moving up a room was not factored into that price.  So I'm sure it will take some wrangling with bureaucracy to get the reduced rate when LO finally moves up (at 16-18 months).

    By room.  Unfortunately, the price is that same (as is the ratio of kids to teachers) in the infant and pre-toddler room.  BOO!

    Interesting how all over the place it is.  Ours goes down $10 a week when they turn 15 months and when they move to preschool it drops $50 a week.

    Ours goes by room. Infant and next toddler room are the same but after that room goes down by $10-20

    Ours goes by room and drops about $100/month. Infant and 12-18 month room are the same price though.

    Mine is by age. And doesn't drop until she is 2. But I think it is by like $50 a week. We are at a center
