Trouble TTC

To Test or Not to Test

Hi all,

I am having such a mental struggle today. I am 13dpiui/14dpt. This is my second IUI and I have been remarkably calm during this TWW. I have had no urge to test and have made myself fairly convinced to not test until proposed AF arrives. Today I have the urge to go POAS but am completely terrified of the impending failure of the try (I just have a gut feeling). I am not technically suppose to test until tomorrow, so if I don't today the mental battle will continue tomorrow. I started having some mild cramping on Friday (9dpiui) and today I have sore ta-tas. Ughhh......don't know what to do ~X(

Have my cycle buddies tested yet???? @rainbowbridge14 @Kcheese

  • I would say if you want to test, then you should do what you want. However, for me once I pass FMU I can usually hold out until the next day because I don't want to waste a test when I'm not sure if it's concentrated enough. Do you have any cheapie tests that you don't mind using? I tested much more often when I had wondfos, haha. Good luck!

@catlover790 I don't keep pregnancy test in the house. It does make things easier when the mood strikes because if I don't have one then I won't test. Now that I think about it, I do have one and its a digital and from what I have read there is no point using one of those at this stage. I will probably test in the morning...we'll see.

  • @drstef‌ I'm sure it is easier to resist if you don't have any at home! I'd save the digi if it were me; they are expensive! Good luck testing tomorrow!!

  • I have so already caved & been testing (BFN).  I may be what they call a POAS addict, but hey, at least I use the cheap tests.  :)  I'd rather have myself mentally prepared when I test than have a surprise AF at work or something.  Keeping my FX for you!

  • Just keep in mind that when or whether you test has absolutely no bearing on what the outcome will be. So you can feel free to do what makes you comfortable and know that testing and getting a BFN doesn't mean you caused yourself to lose the chance. :)

@BunnyBerry Yes, taking a test or not does not change the outcome things. In the past, I have had false positives so I have an anxiety when it comes to POAS. I did test yesterday when I got home from work (yes, I know it's not the FMU). It was a BFN. So my plan is just to wait for AF to arrive; by my calculations, it should be tomorrow late or Friday.

@Kcheese Sorry about all the BFNs. It ain't over til it's over.
