Feeling Full Quickly

Over the past week or so I've noticed that every time I eat I feel really full much faster than I ever did before. Anyone else noticing this? If so, how do you combat the issue? I'm not very good at small meals or snacking. Any suggestions are welcome!

Re: Feeling Full Quickly

  • I just started noticing this more so. I am 11w4 days so im not sure where u r. Def stay hydrated and try things u enjoy eating or quick easy snack options. I've been better at packing carrot and celery sticks w pb and also some small finder fruit (grapes blueberries strawberries raspberries). I find if I prepare in advance I am much better off!

  • I've been feeling the same way.  I'll finish eating a meal (a normal amout pre-pregnancy) and then feel uncomfortably full.  I'm trying to eat a little less and have a snack inbetween meals if I'm hungry.  It's not my normal eating pattern, but I guess we do what we have to!

  • I'm the same. I went to lunch one day with DH, I ate my meal, and had enough for 2 left over meals.
It's something I could have ate all of, before pregnancy.

I read in my Mayo Clinic book that this is normal. Your digestion is slowing down so you and your baby can absorb nutrients better. My hardest time has been after dinner. I've spent the last week feeling so sick at night. I think you just have to listen to your body and pace what you eat. Tonight I had two frozen waffles, some fruit, and peas for dinner (this took me a couple of hours to eat). It's the first night I haven't felt horrible.

  • I love to eat, so it has been hard for me to stop eating my meal when I'm full after a few bites. But I have to remember how miserable I will feel if I eat too much. So I will pack the rest and eat it when I feel hungry again in a couple hours. Hope that helps!

  • I've had this too, just did a 3 hour gestational diabetes screen with fasting beforehand and I swear I could have made it another hour to lunch at 2 pm but ate a Luna bar just to be on the safe side. Normally I cannot go 3 hours without at least feeling hungry, never mind fasting before hand!
  • I've been feeling this way for a while. It's hard to get into new habits - but I eat when I'm hungry and stop pretty quickly. I've been eating throughout the day just in smaller portions. I brought a lot of snacky-type foods to work yesterday and ate them throughout the day instead of a bigger lunch. That worked out well.
  • If you don't have time for frequent snacking try eating healthy high calorie foods in smaller portions while you can. I have been struggling with this as well because in usually a big meal eater but I now have a dedicated snack drawer at work haha

  • I've also been struggling with this, but have been learning to take it slower and eat more often. A couple of weeks ago was the worst with stuffing myself too much. I was eating potato soup, and it was just so delicious!!! I had to eat the whole bowl. And then I seriously regretted because I felt so full and bloated for several hours afterward. UGH. Not worth it.

I just started noticing this too right at the start of week 15.... Before I was eating about 20% more food at a time and now I'm back to "normal" (pre-pregnancy) amounts and feeling extremely full and then getting hungry just an hour or so later.... looking like spreading out the meal over a long period of time has helped.
  • Smaller meals. Separate liquids from solids. I have noticed this a lot lately:/
