N14 Twins+ Check In (7/14)

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a spectacular weekend and are staying cool in the heat (although it's in the 100s here, so I've been pretty much just staying in doors).

How far along are you*? Any appointment updates? Things you'd like to AW or vent about?

*I have alterior motives asking this question. I'm trying to organize our list of MoMs and figured how far along we are was better than due date (since most of us will not be making it to our "due date").

...and a random GTKY question...

What's your favorite summer activity?

@morrkim - Team Blue - Awesome on having a place to move to, even if timing kind of sucks. I remember when we moved to the area where we're living now, we moved on a Saturday and I started a new job on Monday. Rough! How are you planning on making the smaller space work w/ twins on the way?

@IntuitiveBlue - Team Purple

@amberej - Team Purple - Isn't it fun picking up baby things? It is such a relief! What is your favorite item so far?

@ktibbits1 - Team Purple - LOL @ the wine dream. Early on I had one where people kept offering me wine and I couldn't remember why I shouldn't be drinking it.

@lisalynnmama - Team Pink - Sorry you are having a challenging time potty training your DS and a stressful weekend. I'm hoping you had a better weekend this week!

@yess0311 - Team Purple

@CPM13 - Team Green - I am so jealous of you! I bet the Bahamas were beautiful! Any photos you want to share to make the rest of us jealous :-)

@MrsC430 - Team Pink - Have you made a decision on a double stroller?

@KimmieS1756 - Team Blue - How was your ultrasound?

@Amandakea15 - Team Purple - How are you feeling? How was your follow up?

@MsMolly520 - Team Blue - Love your Pooh nursery! As for measuring, that sounds about right. I'm taller than you (5'5) and was measuring 26 weeks a day before 20 weeks.

@tiersa_smith - Team Green (until Aug. babyshower) - Did your doctor have any suggestions for weight gain? I've been personally going for protein bars and shakes (although I've had no problems gaining weight, damn near 30 lb already at 20 weeks. Ugh! I keep trying to chill. It's for the babies...)

@zamboni00 - Team Purple - Have you started your registry/registries yet?

@absolutelymaybe - Team Purple

@erinwithtwins - Team Blue - I'm so happy you got good results from your amnio! And yay for team blue!

Hi ladies! Thanks @absolutelymaybe‌ for the awesome check in every week. It's truly appreciated - I love catching up on everyone's progress.

AFM... I'm 21 weeks as of yesterday. My next ultrasound w/ MFM is tomorrow morning. Followed by a regular OB appt on Thursday. I think I updated before that my blood pressure has been a little on the high side, crossing my fingers for good numbers this week. I'm so anxious to see our baby girls again.

Thank you all for the stroller advice!

QOTW: Favorite summer activity is probably relaxing outside w/ a good book & a cold drink. Preferably a frozen margarita, but this summer i've improvised w/ homemade lemonade ;)

  • @KimmieS1756 - Is this the first time they measured your cervix? My appointment was a day shy of 20 weeks and I asked if they were going to measure mine, but ultrasound tech said the doctor didn't ask for it. My next appointment is in four weeks and doctor mentioned starting to check my cervix then. Am I being paranoid that they haven't done this yet and don't plan to until 24 weeks?

They also checked my cervix at my last u/s (I was like 19wks at the time), but my Dr. said that the reason she requested it is because I have a bicornuate uterus and that can sometimes cause early labor.

    23 weeks(measuring 34 weeks)

I had an appt and u/s today.  They were both looking good and measured 1lb 4oz each.

    What's your favorite summer activity?

I love to go camping and swimming

How are you planning on making the smaller space work w/ twins on the way?

We got a storage unit and will put a lot in it.  Also my in laws will be about 45 minutes away and they agreed to help us store some stuff as well.  This place has not storage space at all.

I am 22 weeks, 4 days pregnant now.  I have my next appointment tomorrow and I get to see the little gals again.  They measure my cervix at every appointment since I delivered DS six weeks early with no explanation.  My cervix was not the issue for my water breaking but my doctor is keeping an eye on it just in case.

Vent:  My back is killing me.  My heartburn is back in truly painful fashion and nothing is touching it.  I just want to sleep all the time.  All.  The.  Time.

My baby shower is this coming Saturday and I am really looking forward to it!  It will be a nice respite from feeling terrible all the time and dealing with the stress of my dad's lymphoma and chemo treatments.  I am mostly looking forward to catching up with family and friends.

    What's your favorite summer activity?

Back in the day my answer would have been lounging by the pool, reading a book and sharing a bottle of wine with DH.  Now my answer is taking DS swimming, getting ice cream and/or cookouts.  I like the option of being able to be outside most of the time (even though I now sweat like a buffalo and look like a mess after about ten minutes!).

    DS born August 2011
    TWINS are on the way!
  • Hello Twin Mommies!!!!

    I am 21 weeks 5 days
I am doing well for the most part. My doctors appt was good. I am going to just continue taking my blood pressure meds twice daily. Which I figured might happen. I am feeling completely exhausted all the time. My back and hips feel like they are breaking in half. Lol ohhh twins!! @yess0311‌ I am behind you as well, but not by much. I don't have consistent movement either mostly from baby B. I am alway worried. Lol next appt with OB on 7/24 and u/s on 8/1 I can't wait to see my little munchkins again.

My favorite summer activity has to be swimming with my kiddos and going to bbq's with friends/family.
  • Just realized I forgot to check in. Ooops!

I AW'd it, but a/s went great, although I was a little concerned how short it was (about 20 minutes -- it seems like everyone's are so much longer), and a good portion of that time was trying to get a vanity picture of Willa since Ari kept sticking his feet in her face (photo bomb!) I also found out I have an anterior placenta, so that could be why I'm not feeling as much movement yet. My next appointment will be at 24 weeks and then every two weeks from then on.

We finished the painting and wall boards in our nursery and set up both cribs on Sunday (I was pleasantly surprised to find that the gray on the cribs nearly matches the gray we used for the stripe on one wall). We ordered the mattresses (amazon) and dresser (target) and they should be here later this week/next week. I still need to find a glider/rocker. I want something upholstered and comfy and am having a hard time trying to find something not too expensive (since my dad offered to buy it).

As for my favorite summer activity: It normally would be lying out in the sun and reading a book or boating with friends, but obviously haven't been doing either this summer. Right now, it's cranking the air conditioning and enjoying the arctic awesomeness that is my house.

How far along are you*? Any appointment updates? Things you'd like to AW or vent about?22 weeks 1 day. Measuring 28 weeks (egad- this is going to get ugly). Had appointment today and got an unexpected ultrasound because the babies' heartrates were the same and they were unable to tell if they were only able to find one baby. Turns out they are just in sync. :) But I loved seeing them. The nasty vein on my right leg is growing (and growing) but otherwise things are good. Settling back in from vacation. Trying to get DD back on her schedule. She was all over the place on vacation. What's your favorite summer activity?Heading to farmer's markets, making jam and being in the water. :)

(sorry for the block'o'text. This has paragraphs, I promise. I'll try to fix it when I get home!) I'm a little late this week :) How far along are you*? Any appointment updates? Things you'd like to AW or vent about? 22w1d, today. I was told on Friday, at my monthly appointment that 38 weeks is my 'end date', when we'll be scheduling induction or C-section. Eeps. That means these babies will be here around 11/4, that's crazy talk. My appointment in general wasn't the best. I guess my blood pressure was 'high for me' and has been trending upward, so they want to see me back in 2 weeks and I get to check it myself a couple of times a week. I went last night after work to a Wal-Mart and took it 3 times in the span of 10 minutes. It definitely went down each time, starting off high, and lowering into the normal range. This makes me wonder if my working days are nearing an end. I'm also blaming it on the fact that my mother was driving me crazy at the appointment ;) (that's the first-and last- time I let her come with me haha) But we'll see. Anyone have tips to lower BP? ha. ...and a random GTKY question... What's your favorite summer activity? When I was a kid, I loved camp, and spent many summers working at camp as I got older. But ever since I've had a 'real job' I would say my favorite summer activity is the annual fundraiser that my H rides his bicycle in. It's a 200 mile bike ride for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I volunteer, and he rides from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA, and afterwards we take spend an extra day on the cape. I love it. Assuming I'm not assigned any travel restrictions between now and then (2 weeks to go!), it will also serve as our 'babymoon.' @absolutelymaybe- I have started the registries. My shower will be 8/17, and invites are going out soon! Yikes. I asked my cousin's wife (she's pregnant with #2 due the last week of October, and #1 is just over a year) to take a look and give me pointers :) I don't know what I'd do without her!

I would like to be added! I am expecting twin boys - EDD November 25. Everything is going really well so far. At my A/S the only thing they couldn't get a clear picture of was Baby A's foot. I now have monthly growth and development ultrasounds and they will just try to get another look then. I have registered and my shower is on September 14. And we can't come up with names to save our lives! Oh boy :) QOTW: Just being outside in the sunny weather

  • How far along are you*? 22w4d
40w is 11/15(I call it my "fake due date")
Any appointment updates? They are a lb plus each! I'm definitely feeling big and tired. Going to be an interesting few months ahead. Have an ultrasound every week now and MFM appointment every four weeks now

Things you'd like to AW or vent about?
Finally have told people since we got the amnio results. Feels so much realer now.

Starting my registry which is both fun and overwhelming! Shower is set for 8/31. I'm doing a few registries just to get the completion discount. Will publish 1 or 2. Is that weird that it's Labor Day weekend? It's what worked for my friend throwing it.
Have met a few twin parents through a local group and that's been great! Getting numbers for help and have bought a nursing pillow and mamaroos used. Highly recommend it!
  • How far along are you*? 23 weeks today
Any appointment updates? At my 21 week appointment I was measuring 28 weeks, @CPM13 those were my thoughts exactly ;)
Things you'd like to AW or vent about? Monday night was the first night DH could feel the babies moving :) Since then, I've felt tons of movement on the right side only (Monday night could feel it on both). I wasn't sure if that was normal or how much/how regularly they should be moving, so I called my OB office today and they told me to come into OB triage.  Thankfully, everything looks great with both babies, my placenta is more anterior on the left so that may be why I'm not feeling much movement there.  I'm glad to have the peace of mind at least!

My favorite summer activity was formerly going to the beach.  I don't think I've done much that's very "summery" yet this year, though next weekend I will enjoy my parents' pool!  Not buying a maternity swimsuit for one weekend so will be rockin' the bikini looking like I'm in my 3rd tri ;)
  • How far along are you*?
    20+6 (21 weeks on Thursday)

Any appointment updates? Things you'd like to AW or vent about?
I had a MFM appointment today. It was a detailed measurement scan and everything looks great with both babies. From here on out it will be growth/development scans (unless something changes). Baby A measured 14 oz and Baby B measured 13 oz. I can't wait until they're measuring in pounds!

I was wondering if anyone else is having anxiety about carrying to full term? Everything has been going so well with these babies and I feel like I'm fairly low risk as far as multiples go (for which I am SO grateful). But I keep hearing stories (from the doctors!) about the likelihood of pre-term labor. WTF? I know they need me to be prepared in case it happens -- and nothing I can do if it does. But I think about extended NICU time (how will I leave my sweet babies?!)...how will that affect breastfeeding (I had supply issues with DS)...how will that affect DS if I'm at the hospital everyday (I'm a SAHM)...etc. These thoughts aren't overwhelming (I have an 18-month-old to chase around all day!) but they do creep in here and there. *Le sigh* Welcome to motherhood!

    What's your favorite summer activity?
Swimming and going out on the boat. :)

@msmolly520 I feel the same way! My dr keeps reassuring me that there is no reason to think I won't go to term but other people in the office seem to be preparing me for pre-term. And I get very worried about juggling DD and two babies who need me at the hospital. Fingers crossed we both make it pretty close to 40 weeks.
    image
  • @msmolly520 - I think I've been more concerned about going into preterm labor than my doctor is. In fact, he doesn't seem concerned at all. I'm like, "Damnit! Why aren't you measuring my cervix!" and he didn't even recommend me seeing a MFM (I'm low-risk). But I've never had a baby before and I just keep reading these stories of pre-term labor and.... *sighs*

I've been trying to do whatever I can at home -- drinking lots of water, resting with my feet up when I can, etc.

I wish I had better advice.

@absolutelymaybe I'm also not seeing an MFM and am considered low risk. I checked in on the multiples board and I guess it's pretty common. Hopefully we'll be fine!
