Yerba Benotite Great Plains

Does anyone have experience with using this through out your pregnancy? An employee at Whoke Foods highly recommended it during pregnancy. I can't find too much online about it.......

    My mother in law takes bentonite clay and some liquid vitamin thing for her stomach which has helped but I wound never recommend it during pregnancy. The last thing you want is to detox and become dehydrated especially in the summer.

    Oh my Lord. DO NOT DO IT. Bentonite clay extracts impurities, but it's binding. It's fine as a face mask, and is often found in facial masks you can buy, but it will constipate you if ingested. I know this because I made the mistake. I've never been so constipated, up until pregnancy, anyway. Put down the bentonite clay and no one gets hurt.

    The idea of ingesting clay makes my stomach queasy. There are limits I could never cross.

    Eating clay is actually a common custom for pregnant women in some parts of the world, but usually in 3rd world areas where some food is hard to digest and potentially contains toxic elements (like most plants do, but we are adapted to eat them anyway).  I think in Africa they will eat the clay exhumed by termites.  I think it's particularly helpful for women who eat a majorly plant based diet, and for nausea.   I don't remember all the details but read about it in a book I just finished (Ghosts of Evolution).  It's similar to why elephants eat clay.

    That being said, I don't think that it's particularly necessary, just a marketing opportunity.
