Anyone have or planning to get an Amazon Mom membership?

A lot of the moms I know have memberships here or get their diapers delivered from diapers.com. I'm a fan of Amazon, but it looks like in order to get free shipping and a discount on diapers, you need to subscribe to a certain size and commit to that delivery monthly. Not sure how that would work when babies grow so quickly and may grow out of that size before the month is over? Diapers.com does free next day delivery and their prices are comparable if not a few dollars more expensive. Anyone have experience or thoughts?

We also have amazon mom and love it, we get our diapers delivered, wipes and other household items. the price of the diapers is much cheaper for us this way and plus I'm lazy. As the others have said you are not locked into anything and can change or cancel or add at any time. Another reason we love it is for free streaming of movies and tv shows and also for free shipping, we order everything off of amazon and the free shipping really saves us a ton.

  • @CarmAlarm‌ right now aside from diapers and wipes we are getting my prenatals, laundry detergent, and some snacks/food for DD.

@reverey any 5 items that you add to your subscribe and save you then get 20% off the whole order and those items can be anything, they don't have to be baby related

So it's a monthly subscription to any five things? Can you change it the following month? Not sure I can think if five things is need EVERY month...very cool tho! Thanks for the tidbit.
You get the biggest discount when you subscribe to 5 things, but you don't have to. And it's surprisingly easy to find 5 things, especially if you're using disposable diapers and wipes. We do snacks and fruit/veggie pouches, bubble bath, and shampoo and body wash for the kiddo, plus toilet paper, cleaning products, dishwasher, diaper, and laundry detergent. I try to organize the deliveries so that I'm getting things every 2-3 months and getting 5 things in a month so that I can get the 20% discount. But there are several things that we get monthly as well (snacks, pouches, laundry detergent, diaper detergent) so it's not terribly hard to get 5 things a month. It's generally cheaper plus saves a ton of time, although I don't think my UPS man appreciates lugging all my packages up the stairs every month. :-)

Oh, and you can add, edit, or cancel any subscription at any time. It's not a hassle at all. Plus we love having the Prime shipping and videos.

  • I'm planning on getting a subscription but I'm going to wait til the baby is born so I can really cash in the free 3 months.  We order a lot of stuff on amazon in the first place so prime shipping would be nice (though my sister shares hers with us)...

  • We have it. We started using it once DS grew out of his cloth diapers a few months ago. I use Amazon for almost everything in terms of ordering things since I get free 2 day shipping-not sure if that is part of Amazon Mom or Prime?? I should probably look into that....

I signed up for Amazon Mom last pregnancy - didn't ever buy diapers, but I did buy other baby stuff so they kept extending my free trial.  I think it ended up being a year or a year and a half of free Amazon Prime?  I loved it so much that I pay for Prime now.  Gotta love the fast shipping, plus streaming!

  • I was under the impression that amazon prime includes amazon mom? Or you get the same discounts? That's what my bf told me when I asked if we should sign up for amazon mom (he already has prime). Is that right? I've only recently discovered the greatness of shopping on amazon, so I have no idea what's what.

Other way around...Amazon Mom includes Prime. We have Prime right now, but will be signing up for Amazon Mom right before baby gets here. Mom is like an extra benefits package that you can add to Prime.

If you already have Amazon Prime, you can sign up for Amazon Mom for free -- you still have to "join" though. It's really easy, you just click a few things I think. They sent me an email as a Prime member when I set up our baby registry, I think. My memory is fuzzy because it was so easy, literally took less than a minute. I haven't used any of the Mom benefits yet, so I don't know how that works yet... except that as a Mom member I got a 15% completion discount on my Amazon registry instead of just 10%.

  • I was trying to decide if it would be better to join Amazon or to get a Costco membership for diapers. Any opinions?

I joined. I have gotten great deals on paper towels and TP. Often I select subscribe/save and then cancel it. If the price os comparable to our local sams Club we'll do diapers that way too. We are prime members so no real shipping costs.

That's what I'm wondering as well. We already have a Costco membership, but I don't think they carry newborn-size diapers. At least not in the store brand. It would be super convenient to have the diapers and wipes show up at my door, though...and since we already have an Amazon Prime membership, this sounds like it's worth looking into.

  • I was just talking to my sister and dh about amazon. We aren't prime members but I'm seriously considering it.

Costco doesn't have newborn size. Only a box with 1-2 sizes. Every couple of months they roll out their $5-6 off specials but that's still $30+ a box. My walmart is starting to carry similar sized boxes for the same price and you can snag coupons anywhere.
  • I have an amazon mom memebership. I don't subscribe to diapers but the 2 day shipping is a savior. Expecially when my DD1 was fresh and my March BMB constantly recommended baby items I just HAD to have!

I am a prime member and I love it. The free 2 day shipping has been awesome. I did most of my Xmas shopping on prime last year.

I am going to add on Amazon mom. I wasn't aware it was free with prime.

Not sure it will be cheaper than deals at BRU plus manufacturers coupons but the convenience if it arriving at my doorstep might make it worth it when I consider dragging two kids to BRU with me!

  • speaking of Costco diapers, does anyone have real experience with when their size 1-2 is useable? that's what we planned to use, but I need advice on how many newborn diapers I should go ahead and buy before I can make the switch...

Definitely checking out Amazon Mom, because we love using it for subscribe and save!  We use it for the following:

3 pack Lysol wipes - every 3 months
3 pack Mrs. Meyers Hand Soap - every 3 months
90 kitchen trash bags - every 3 months
2 pack laundry detergent - every 3 months
    2 pack toothpaste - every 4 months
    2 pack mouthwash - every 3 months
48 double rolls TP - every 3 months
3 kinds of Kind bars - every 3 months
Body wash - every 2 months
    2 Pack Shampoo/conditioner - every 4 months
24 pack paper towels - every 6 months (I'm guessing I will have to make this one more frequent in the near future)

I've also added wipes to start monthly in September.

If anything, it helps me track how much we use of what and budget easier.

  • I have Prime and I added Amazon Mom. My co-worker who just had a baby loves it and she researches everything. I love Prime and DH and I use it for many things, especially things for school (like laminating film is WAY cheaper and I'd rather wait a day and save then go to Target or Walmart and pay more).

I didn't realize you could save on other things too.

Eligible? I didn't realize there were eligibility requirements....
  • I'm glad a thread about this got started so I can get a better understanding of how this works. My sister has amazon prime and she already signed up for Amazon mom on my behalf. I've already gotten a huge box of size 1 diapers when there was a 20% discount last month

  • Good to know about Costco not carrying the newborn sizes. So AMZN Mom is the cheapest option even when factoring in the annual membership fee?
  • Okay, so now I'm really curious about the Amazon mom monthly diaper delivery. People who have used it before: Does the cost per diaper end up being a good deal? (I'm afraid I won't have time to do a lot of couponing once I'm back at work, so I'll probably just be buying them at Walmart at regular price usually.) Can you give an estimate on how many diapers you would order per month for a FTM who has nooooo idea how many diapers babies go through? How about with wipes?

The idea of having them delivered straight to my door sounds amazing!

I just signed up for pampers newborn 128- pack, and it came out to 22 cents per diaper, and the 448 count paper sensitive wipes were 2 cents per wipe. I don't know how long I will use NB diapers for (measuring 4lbs, 13 oz at almost 32 weeks), but I guess I will go back to change it later. I also signed up for DH shampoo, body wash and vitamins to make it 5 total items and eligible for the 20% off discount. My SIL uses diapers.com...they don't have a subscription, but they have free overnight shipping, which has proven to be useful.

  • Ive been debating on signing up for Amazon Prime for awhile now and I think Im about to finally do it. I use Amazon so much it would be nice to have the free two day shipping and have the Amazon Mom option, I have a Sam's Club membership but I would rather have things shipped straight to the house instead of dragging a newborn and a toddler to the store especially during the winter months.

  • @tatorhead328‌ the price per diaper for us ended up being a better deal plus the convenience is worth it to us. When she was wearing newborns and 1s and even 2s we just had them delivered once a month but ordered the largest box available. The good thing is, they give you a heads up the week before it is going to be delivered so if you think it's time to change size you can do that.
