Can anyone give me a rundown/tips on ordering medications and possibly getting the best price for them? I spoke with my nurse coordinator this morning and she gave me a listing of what I'll be on and said she'd be sending the list to Freedom Fertility.
I guess someone will be calling me from there. Do I have to order through them or do I have other options? We will be doing our first IVF cycle in early September so I'm kind of like a deer in headlights and feeling a little lost and overwhelmed!
Alexanders Twin has good prices as well as village fertility pharmacy. If you have time, Ivfmeds in the UK is about 50% less than what you pay for any pharmacy here, I would make sure they have the meds IN STOCK and also get the fastest shipping possible. I would check with your insurance company to make sure things like estradiol pills and crinone are covered because those two are not considered IVF meds and should be covered.
@przemosbabe I did check with my insurance and a few of the meds are covered (Endometrin, Dexamethasone, and Doxycycline). Do you have experience with ivfmeds in the UK? I start birth control pills in about 3 weeks, but I won't have my baseline until around the first week of September. I wonder if that gives me enough time to order.
When you are comparing prices, be sure to ask Freedom (or anyone else) if they have a discount or grant program, so that you're comparing the lowest prices available to you.
If you do not start bcp for 3 weeks you have time to order your meds from them, just make sure they have them in stock and get them express shipped regardless. I think it's like 100 dollars to have them shipped in two days or something. But you're still saving a lot of money even with that price for shipping tell them you want your drugs shipped all at once, no split shipping.
Freedom Fertility has good prices for OOP. I found similar prices at my local fertility friendly pharmacy (Rosemont). Look into First Steps and Compassionate Care discount programs! I got 50% off follistim, gonal-f, ganirelix and a few others!
