Preggo question- movement!

Anyone notice difference between babies as far as movement. My Dr. Told me it would be about the same as last time since my placenta is anterior again, but I barely felt movement last time the whole pregnancy. I even went in for several NSTs because of it. This time the baby is INSANE! We could feel movement from the outside at 18 weeks and see movement at 20. Now I'm getting all sorts of rib kicks, even painful ones and my stomach looks like I am housing an alien already. I just hit 25 weeks and I feel baby all day and all night, it is so much different than last time. So much more fun though, I had no idea what I was missing last time. I was bummed when I found out my placenta was anterior again but it doesn't seem to affect this baby's ability to put on a show!

Re: Preggo question- movement!

  • This was my first experience with an anterior placenta, so it was a completely different ballgame. With DD1 I think I noticed movement about 22 weeks, but then realized that I'd been feeling that for a while.

With DS, I swear I felt movement at 12 weeks. He was so active and forceful, even DH could feel it by 15 weeks.

This time, I felt NOTHING until like 24 or 25 weeks. Not she is crazy mccrazy cakes! Seriously, we clearly saw a foot yesterday, pushing out — with 5 distinct toes and a heal. It fing hurt! And she likes to scratch her fingers on my hip sockets. Weird weird weird.

  • DD moved like crazy, all day long, all the time. I think I first felt her around 18 weeks. Maybe earlier, but I could've mistaken it for gas or something. This LO I felt around 15-16 weeks, but she doesn't move nearly as much as DD did. I've had quiet a few times this pregnancy that I've had to do kick counts, whereas with DD I was never concerned. I haven't had an anterior placenta with either pregnancy.

  • I felt dd at 15 weeks, and I felt my 2nd pregnancy 1 time. I felt Ds at 12 weeks. I know they say it is impossible, but I say that is a bunch of crap. My placenta was never anterior, but dd barely moved. Ds was very predictable in times of movemebt and was all over the place. I heard of people saying the baby kept them up at night, which seemed crazy to me when I was pregnant with dd, but I get it now.
  • This LO moves way less than DS did.  I am wondering if it is from not stopping chasing DS!

  • Interesting!! I wonder if there is any correlation between movement and how they are on the outside?

  • I felt this LO move a couple weeks earlier than I felt DD, and the movements were more definitive and stronger. I don't know if I'd say that he moves more than she did.... it's just different. It's like I can feel more of what he's doing, if that makes any sense. With DD it would've just felt like a kick, punch, or stretch; with this one, I can feel more distinct movements along my bones or nerves. I think I've also had more painful movements from him. I'm pretty sure I'm carrying him higher than DD, so maybe it's just a difference in position and what he's hitting in there when he moves.

I hope so!  DS was alway super busy in my  belly and NEVER stops moving.  I would love a little girl who cuddled me!

  • I had an anterior placenta for both of my pregnancies. I felt movement at 22 weeks with my first child and 19 weeks with my second.
Proud Momma to two beautiful children!!!

  • I was much the same. With DS I had an anterior placenta and he was pretty relaxed. This kid is completely different. I didn't feel DS until 22 weeks. This LO I've felt since 16 weeks and this babe is beyond active. I asked my doctor if it was a placental placement and he laughed at me. He said no, it was character and "have fun with that when LO comes out"... Gee. Thanks doc!
