2nd Trimester

Bathing Suits

Hey Everyone,

Just really need an opinion. I am not sure what do for swimwear this summer. I have check out maternity swimwear but a lot of it looks so old lady and I would like to go out there a least feeling good about myself. I know some continue to wear their bikinis, but I wasn't sure if I would feel comfortable or it would be offensive. I have always been slight in stature but now I am just sporting a baby bump of course. It would be nice to hear what everyone else has decided.

Thanks!

Re: Bathing Suits

  • For me I went to Kohls and got a pair of black maternity shorts, and a super cute swim suit top they both fit nicely look appealing and the top will be somethig I can wear after the baby as well (: I love the maternity shorts cause of the way they shape my hips and belly as well as providing coverage for my back side. This is my second baby so I am taking full advantage of sporting a bikin with out feeling self concious. I think this is a time to show some skin and feel great about it! Your growing another person yaa!

  • Thanks ladies. I may just give the bikini a try and see how I feel, since I have one the still fits. It beats having to spend more money on maternity cloths. Really starts to add up.
  • I wear a string bikini with a tank top over it.  To each their own.

  • I think the bikini is great if you can pull it off! I definitely don't have the body for it :) I got a tankini (one of the only ones I could find!) from Kohl's that was 50% off plus I had a 20% off coupon. It is maternity so it doesn't ride up in the pool.
  • Still waiting a bikini! Just had to get a larger top :) screw whoever told you that's offensive!
  • I'm still rocking the bikini, f*** anyone who's "offended". I wore bikinis the whole time I was pregnant with DS too.

In fact, I just happened to take a HDBD pic in my bikini today! 20 weeks.

  • I'm bikini all the way, but, I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but I've gotten a very hairy belly since being pregnant. I also have some pubic like hairs around my belly button and up the happy trail. I would rather not nair, shave, or wax and would just rather leave the hair alone. If it doesn't bother me, I won't bother it, so I may go for a tankini.

@abbyful: You look great! At 22 weeks I am so much bigger. For some reason I started showing early. But I think I am still going to rock the bikini anyway.
  • I was wearing a tankini from target that's not maternity, but has gathered sides. It fit until about 2 weeks ago when I changed to a maternity top. I also wear a swim skirt bottom because of chasing my toddler. I like the extra coverage it gives me and my large backside.

The tankini will be great after baby is born until I'm back to my regular size. It also provides more support for my larger bibs.

I couldn't find any new swimsuits I liked so I'm just wearing last year's black bikini bottom and a sports bra with a racer tank top over it. I hate the way one prices feel when I swim and none of the tops fit my triple D boobs at 22 weeks. Has been working great so far.
  • Maternity tankini from Target with pre-pregnancy skirt.

  • Thanks loving all the pics. Tried the bikini for the fisrt time over the weekend. It worked and look just fine.
  • I say if you wore a bikini before pregnant, keep on wearing it! No shame in the tummy!

I'm plus sized, and never wear bikinis, but managed to find an adorable grey and white chevron striped one piece from Target...and love it!

     It's a BOY! Est. Due Date - October 17th
