Trying to Get Pregnant

to douche or not to douche? (this may be tmi?!?!)

Good evening,
Just a quick question, I've been researching things that as I'm TTC, what should I stop, start, or slow down on (eg begin taking PNVs, show down on caffeine) I've been getting conflicting info/opinions regarding douching.
I usually do it after AF, and maybe once during the month.
So, do any of u douche? Do you think that it could have an effect on fertility? I'm curious to know what you all suggest/recommend.
Thanks in advance :)

  • Wow!!! I'm sooo shocked, much appreciated girls! Never knew that this was a negative with TTC (or hygiene in general!)
  • Lmao ya the one under my sink is "tropical rain" hahaha I knew I would get some great advice
  • @DaBearsFansWife‌ it confused me also!! I logged out & back in just bc it was formatted super weird!

@jennycam‌ yes, I've been doing it since I was around 20 or so (I'm 25 now!)...my RE didn't say anything at my initial visit but I've never really asked either.
  • Haha @WhoCanItBeNow‌ lol I'll keep that in mind.... but for the record no stench no infection just have done it after my period for years. but yes lol I'm seeing that it may not be the best idea, infection or not!
    Lol
  • Well I'm really not sure how/why I began...lost my virginity at 18 in college and by the time I was 20 or so douching had become part of my monthly routine after AF. Possibly picked it up in the dorm? I was raised by a single father so as soon as I was around other girls I stayed copying a lot of the "girl" stiff that I thought that I had missed out on....(sorry for the novel lol)
  • I remember the day in health class when my teacher told us that douching with coca-cola was not an acceptable form of BC. Good to know....

After my D&C my OB said "make sure nothing goes in your vagina for a couple of weeks ... no tampons, no douching, etc."

My immediate reaction then was "WHAT THE? People still do that?" I did not at that point ask any follow up questions.
