Trouble TTC

Cysts and Clomid

So Thursday is the BIG day. I'm going back for a 2nd ultrasound to see if the cyst on my left ovary is gone. I've been on birth control for the past 3 months. Before that we've been trying to conceive since Jan 2013. I've been trying to stay super positive, but this week it just really hit me. What if the cyst didn't go away? Anyone have advice in this department? I really don't want to sit around and wait like we've been doing for the past three months.

We've also done all the fertility testing this year if the cyst is gone our doctor is recommending starting clomid. And that's a whole 'nother post.

Re: Cysts and Clomid

  • I'm starting a new job in a few weeks so I'll be switching insurance. Depending on how Thursday goes the RE is my next step. My husband and I are both leaning toward not starting clomid and continuing to try on our own. But I would definitely want to investigate a few things a little further with a RE while we do that.

  • Sorry if there's a back story I'm not aware of. Have you had the cyst checked since it was discovered? Is the cyst from a Clomid cycle? I suppose either way, good luck!

Also, I'm with Ketchup. Step away from the OB's Clomid.

  • Thanks for your advice ladies. My cyst developed from not being on birth control for over a year, I guess it's pretty common if you're in your 20's and 30's. And knowing that I do (hopefully did) have a cyst makes me more leery of clomid, especially hearing everything everyone else has gone through. I am still going into my OB/GYN to obviously get my results and I know we'll talk about clomid, but I'm just not going to do it. I'm looking up a RE in my area right now! Like you said, I really don't want to risk my reproductive health!!
  • YAY!!! I would like to hold you up as a model success story for all newbies considering unmonitored Clomid!!

I hope your cyst is resolved. I had a couple grow just by chance as well, and they did resolve but I'm not sure how long it took. If it makes you feel better, as long as it has gotten small enough, it is okay to continue with treatment and keep watch on it.

Hope you have an awesome, inspiring visit with an RE!!!

  • Good for you! I know there are different kinds of cysts, but I had a 40mm one and it was gone within four weeks. I'd think yours would be gone too (unless it's a different kind). Good luck!
