S/o buying and selling

On those house buying shows it seems like the kitchen appliances are always included, but around here they typically are not - you always bring your own to your new home. It seems so odd to me that you wouldn't get to pick your own appliances, but maybe it's just what I'm used to.

Are appliances included with the purchase of a house where you live?

    Yes, although sometimes the washer and dryer are not included.

    Same as @diapersnwipes‌ I can't imagine moving appliances like that! So many things are size specific that I would be worried they wouldn't fit/would look funny.

    It varies in our area. Most of the time all kitchen appliances are included but occasionally the refrigerator is not. I have never seen a house for sale that included the washer/dryer though.

    Hmm, that's so interesting. When we looked at houses last year not a single one included the appliances, and I know that's the norm here. In the house we bought, though, the microwave and dishwasher were included, because they're built in.

    They include appliances here. Typically foreclosures and short sales don't come with appliances but that's because people are assholes and they take everything they can. Moving appliances sound like a pain in the ass. I'm also scratching my head at leaving curtains behind.

    We asked for all window coverings to be left, partly so we'd have something covering the windows when we moved in, and partly because a lot of the windows would need custom ones, which would be pricey.

    We're house hunting right now.  None have W/D, most have fridge, range, dishwasher, etc.  Some have a microwave built in, others do not.

    Typically mini blinds and plantation shutter type window coverings stay. But I've never hard of curtains.

    The house we are buying the sellers are taking a stained glass window and dining room chandelier but leaving all appliances in the kitchen including fridge and wine fridge.
