Spit up?

Hi everyone. I recently just came back to the boards (I intro-ed) last week. Question... Twice in the last few days Emily has spit up milk out of her nose just after finishing drinking a sippy cup of it. She hasn't spit up at all since being really young. I sent the dr an email this afternoon but haven't heard back yet.

She doesn't seem sick, have a fever or any other issues. But now I'm laying here wondering if I should call the advice nurse. I mean, I don't think it's a serious emergency or anything, so I don't want to overreact.

Have any of you experienced this? She seems a bit old for spit up. Or is this common and I'm overreacting?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Spit up?

  • Sometimes Grayson will spit up a little. I think it's because he's drinking so fast and some just comes back up with a burp. I haven't really been too concerned about it.

  • That makes sense. She drinks her 5oz of milk so fast and through a straw sippy cup that it's probably burp related. I just feel like it's weird that it comes out of her nose. Thanks though, I feel slightly better.
  • Yeah I don't know about it coming out of her nose. That would probably concern me a little too. Maybe call the nurse line in the morning, if the doc hasn't emailed you back, and see what they say to ease your mind. It's probably nothing but I'd want to know for sure what was going on. Hopefully it's not causing her any pain!

  • She doesn't seem to be in any pain. She seems stunned for a second and she doesn't like that I clean it out obviously. But she has been sticking her finger in her nose a lot lately. Probably just copying daddy though. Thanks for your responses. If I don't hear back by early morning I'll put a call in.
