PUPPP

So I'm pretty sure I have PUPPPs... I have a rash that started on my sides, and a couple days ago has spread. It has become increasingly itchy. I have my doctors appointment tomorrow, so I will be talking with her about it. Any suggestions on relief?

Try oatmeal baths. That worked for a friend if mine. Good luck. I know it's uncomfortable.

  • Oh I am so sorry. It is the worst. For me it was lots of warm showers to dry it out, cortisone cream and eventually steroids (got mine after birth and it was a severe case). I've read this soap called grandpas pine tar soap really helps too. And do your very best not to itch.

  • Ugh, that sucks! I had pupps with DS and I have it again this time, only much earlier (but less on my body so far) than last time. These are what have been kind of helping me:
    - cold blast of water at the end of my shower
    - keep it moisturized
    - ice when it's bad
    - try not to itch it
I've also found that my belly gets quite itchy by the end of the day and clothing over it is irritating. I'm walking around my house with my belly hanging out all evening :)

Things that have been suggested by my dr but I haven't tried yet:
    - cortisone cream (used this last time, it would kind of help to get to sleep, I wouldn't be a fan of using it long term)
    - Benadryl at night to help sleep

I just switched to a midwife and her suggestions (don't try them all at once):
    - milk thistle (dosage depends on the product you get, use as directed)
    - Apis (homeopathic, 30CH, use as directed) *I'll probably try this one*
    - Chickweed cream *I'll probably try this one, if I can find it and the others aren't helping*
    - Dandelion root tea (I'm just starting to try this one) and 1 Tbsp flax oil orally 2x per day
    - Epsom salt or oatmeal bath *I'll probably try this one*
    - avoid direct sunlight

    Good luck!

  • Thank you everyone. My ob said it doesn't look like PUPPPs. So I'm heading to a dermatologist tomorrow. Oh I just love this! :)
