Re: Morning Sickness

  • Try ginger ale sweetie! That will help the nausea!

  • Ginger, mint, saltines in the morning, small meals throughout the day, sea band, preggo pops- try all that for the nausea. I'm not sure what's okay to use for diarrhea- ask your OB
  • Different things work for different women/pregnancies. You may have to try a few things before you find something that works. My nausea with my daughter was so bad that I ended up being prescribed Reglan. Before I got my script the things that helped the most were sea bands, sucking on sour candy, and always having something in my stomach.

    Immodium for diarrhea is safe!
  • For the diarrhea, try a chewable pre natal vitamin, they have less iron (which is probrally the cause of the diarrhea) and they are easier on the stomach.
  • Not sure about diarrhea, for nausea you can try different remedies and see what works best, different things for different women work. My nausea is pretty bad, so I have a prescription. Talk to your OB. I also sometimes do half a unisom before bed. Always making sure I had food on my stomach like mentioned helped out a lot too.

  • Candied ginger works wonders. Also the old gingerale and saltines. Potato chips work well too. Maybe b/c of the salt? Hang in there. Mine lasted til 12 weeks with my first pregnancy but everyone is different. Gotta love m/s

  • If it's too the point where u can't keep liquids down u should call ur ob. They can prescribe u something to ease the nausea a bit. Hang in there!

I feel better in the morning if I don't have an empty stomach. This morning I got up, went and sat on the bathroom floor because I thought I might puke, and then asked DH to bring me some Stacey's pita chips. He thought I was crazy because normally people don't want to eat when they feel nauseous, but the pita chips help to settle my stomach.

If it gets severe, I would talk to a doctor. My doctor prescribed Zofran, but I haven't filled it because my nausea isn't that bad.
  • I take unisom to help me sleep (approved by my OB, of course) and I've started taking my pre-natal at night at the same time. I have found that it has really helped cut down on the extreme nausea in the morning, which allows me to eat, which then helps with my nausea for the rest of the day. Usually if I can eat something at the first sign of nausea, I can prevent it from getting worse and often make it go away almost entirely.

But my morning sickness hasn't been bad enough to prevent me from eating altogether, and I know a lot of other women can't eat a damned thing. So this is just what has been working for me.
  • My doctor prescribed me Diclectin and it had helped a lot! I just hope it's okay to be taking this medication I know she wouldn't prescribe me anything that would harm the baby or myself but I'm just such a worry wart
  • I couldn't do saltines for some reason, but plain rice cakes really worked to help settle my stomach. That, plus Zofran. The big thing for me was to make sure my stomach wasn't empty, which was tricky because I couldn't keep most foods down.
