3rd Trimester

Where are you getting your nursing pajamas?

I've been looking at different sites, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to spend $30 on a nightgown.  I was wanting something that would be easy to nurse in the middle of the night.  I'm not a fan of the stretchy necklines, and was hoping for something that was layered so that I can just maneuver the layers.  Where are you getting your sleepwear?

Re: Where are you getting your nursing pajamas?

  • I'm not sure on the price, but I did receive a couple very nice nursing pajama sets (tank/robe/pant sets) from Motherhood Maternity. It looks like they do have some on sale currently (Buy One Get One)

  • I did the stretchy necklines and nursing tanks for sleep. When you're up 3-5 times a night you really won't care as long as it's easy to nurse in.

  • Last time I just wore a nursing sleep bra and comfy pajama pants that I already owned. The nursing sleep bras are inexpensive and extremely comfortable. I continued to wear mine to bed after I weaned DD just because they're so nice.
  • I didn't buy any pj's or shirts for nursing. I bought a few tank tops and nursing bras and that is what I had to deal with because I'm larger in the chest area. Normal tanks are easy to pull up at night and I made sure to get bras that were not underwire to sleep in. Pretty much whatever you Have will work.
  • With DS, I slept in nursing tank tops and nursing sleep bras.  They were both very comfortable.

This! Also, my hormones were wild post baby, so my temperature regulation was crazy. I'm always cold...always...but post baby, I was a sweaty mess at night, so I never wanted a shirt or nightgown over my nursing bra or tank. (Even with 2 winter babies.)

  • Oh yea, the slits are tiny. I laughed when I put it on at home b/c so little of my 42F boobs would make it through the hole. But to me, it's cheap enough to whoop out the ol' sewing machine and fix and still have  a decent night gown.

  •  I'll just wear a tank and shorts/pants instead of buying special nursing pajamas.

  • I got a nice one at Macy's and another at Thyme (might just be in Canada).  They weren't too expensive but were money well spent.  I spent a lot of time in those jammies and they're lasting me through my second pregnancy as well.

  • I found with my first that it was a lot easier for me to just wear a tank top with the built in bra. The bra held my nursing pads in place so I wouldn't leak in the middle of the night and it was really easy to just remove one strap and lower the tank top at feeding time.
  • Thanks!! I really appreciate the advice.  I'm thinking I may get one nightgown for the hospital, and then stick with sleeping bras and tanks after I get home.
