NBR: Toothache...Owie!

I had two fillings done last Wednesday, relatively small ones. The thing is that now that entire side of my head has been killing me since. Pain starts in my teeth where I had the fillings and up through my sinuses and forehead. I know we have(had) a dentist/dental-type mommas in our group, so I'm curious how long is it normal for teeth to hurt after fillings? It's been at least a decade since my last one, so I've forgotten whether it hurt like this before. I'm seeing the dentist again on Wednesday, so I'll be sure to mention it (if it still hurts then)!

I'm not a dentist but I've had enough dental work to know that that is not normal. I just had two more fillings done on Thursday and I was fine by the next day. Usually you might feel some soreness the same day after the numbing meds wear off but you should be back to normal by the next day. If you are still having pain they might not have gotten all of the decay/infection out. You definitely need to see them again.

What is triggering the pain? Temperature? Hot or cold? Chewing? Nothing? Are you taking anything for pain? If so, are you getting relief? How long does the pain last when it happens?

Chewing sensitivity is common after fillings if the bite is off/high (which can easily happen if you are numb for the fillings and bite just a tiny bit different during the procedure). Hot and/or throbbing pain can be indicative of nerve involvement (possibly needing a root canal), but you would want to wait and see if it settles down if there isn't an obvious sign of that.

"Chewing sensitivity" is a good descriptor - there's also a fairly constant, dull ache. I'm going back Wednesday, for a filling on the other side, so I'll be sure to have them recheck the bite.
