  There are all sorts of lists/resources/registry checklists online that can answer these questions for you.  Try google.
  
  And if you want a book to have on hand, I'd recommend Baby Bargains.

  I wouldn't go crazy with swaddles because not all newborns like to be swaddled.  The muslin blankets are great for swaddling in the beginning.  Then you can eventually get one or two of the Velcro ones.  Also, the Miracle Blanket is just that - a miracle!
