What are your favorite stores for buying affordable business attire, both casual and more professional? I've only worked in very casual offices (jeans and a tee shirt) but would like to update my wardrobe with more adult clothes since I have to buy a bunch of new stuff anyway. Also, any tips for a polished look? I am SO helpless with this kind of thing. I am definitely a tee shirt and pony tail kind of girl.
New York & company! They have really great sales. I've bought practically my entire new work wardrobe there when I started in March. Mixed in with a few key pieces from macys, banana and the loft.
I like Dress Barn, though I hate their name, for slacks. They hold up great through tons of wearing/washing. I get my staples there since I know they'll last.
I admit I'm not great at putting outfits together and accessorizing. I feel fancy when I put a colorful shell/tank and pair it with a solid cardi. Most days I default to slacks and a knit top.
I like dresses. Faster than figuring out an outfit, easy. Plus with some pp weight still, I feel fat and dresses are more forgiving. I got some cute ones recently at BR outlet and Kohls.

I agree with accessories. I always get compliments on my watches of all things! One is a Michael Khors (a gifts from the hubs) and the other is $15 from ny&c.
The picture below is my Michael khors watch and they have a knock off at ny&c! https://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/prod/watches/metallic-links-pav-watch/A-prod910014/
This is my other ny&c I get compliments on often https://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/prod/watches/-rubber-strap-metallic-watch/A-prod260005/
