Stitch Fix question

Has anyone done stitch fix?

For those who don't know, it's a personal shopping service where you set up your style profile and clothing needs online.  They send you five things, and you pay for what you like and return the rest.   You can set up a fix at regular intervals like every month or every-other month.

I just got my first box, and I loved it (maybe I can figure out how to PIP later in the thread).  I don't know if I should keep doing it and ask them to send me stuff that would work both during pregnancy and after or if I should cancel it for now.  One of the things I'm keeping is a jersey wrap dress that I think would fit for all 9 months.

I'd love your thoughts (whether you've done it or not, but especially if you have).

  • @ToasterCat  - The downside is that if I don't like ANYTHING in the box, I'm out $20 for their time/postage/etc.  As long as you buy something, the $20 is a credit toward whatever you buy.

  • A friend sent them a note when she learned she was pregnant and asked for them to send stuff that would work through early pregnancy. She posted pictures of what they sent with that in mind and the results were underwhelming at best. I would probably cancel it honestly.

  • I've gotten one box so far and I love it.  I did get a dress that will definitely work throughout my pregnancy.  I think I'll keep doing it for a little bit.  It'll depend on how quickly I start showing this time around.

  • I think your options are all much better than the ones my friend got, so maybe stick with it for a bit.

  • I get Stitch Fix monthly and I love it!  I usually only keep one or two things, but mainly because of budget.  For now, I plan on keeping it and making a note to the stylist that I'm pregnant; once I start getting bigger, I'll probably cancel it since they don't have maternity clothes.

  • For me personally it seems like a ripoff. I searched the hashtag #stitchfix on Instagram and honestly it looks like they send the same pieces to a ton of different people. Whatever's trendy at the time but people wouldn't pick out for themselves. The clothes are also a higher price point than Id usually spend (I shop mostly j crew sales, H&M, forever21) and $20 just for someone to pick items through the list they already have seems high to me. It also seems like they rope you in with that $20 so you think you've got a "free credit towards your purchase" when it's your money.

I love receiving a subscription box in the mail, but this one just sucks because I can't even afford to keep everything inside. Plus I loathe having to remember to pack the box back up and sending it back in time. I hate trips to the post office, I'm lazy. I love shopping, especially for a bargain, so this just isn't up my alley.

  • I've done it for about 6 months, and in average I'd say I keep 2-3 things. I just put an indefinite hold on it until after baby, partly because I already have a ton of maternity clothes (3rd baby) but also because I questioned how good they'd be at maternity wear.

You're so cute and tiny! I bet they work through most of T2, to be honest.
  • Eek, I just signed up a week or two before realizing I was pregnant, and i'll get my first fix Aug. 9. I'm really hoping I'll get a few cute things that will work. I'm loving the idea though!

  • I got a box awhile back and had so much fun with it! That said, I only kept one item out of the box... I haven't done it since, though, just because of budget. I probably wouldn't do it during pregnancy either. But it's something to look forward to after baby is born!

  • I LOVE Stitch Fix! I've been getting them for about 6 months! I wish they did maternity boxes!
