Whats on your to-do list?

I love lists. I make lists for everything. I rarely ever follow them, and they end up scattered everywhere, but man I love making them.  So, whats left on your to-do list before baby gets here?
So far mine consists of:
finishing baby's room
getting breast pump
preregister at hospital
breastfeeding class
organize kitchen (make room for all those bottles!!)
wash baby clothes/diapers (we are doing cloth)
shower thank yous
starting to pack my bag
set up the car seat

Re: Whats on your to-do list?

    Finish putting the crib together
    Put curtains on the windows

I don't have too terribly much. I'm not setting up a nursery now, he will be in my room for the time being in his bassinet. Getting clothes was my big hang up and now I have what we need. I think he will be here in 9 1/2-10 weeks. Aahhhhh!!

  • Because I'm a psycho here's a screenshot from my spreadsheet. This is just the first page but the other pages are just detailed steps to these projects. We live in a studio so we kind of have to get the whole house ready for the baby.

  • So many things  :((

    1. Get infant carseat back from friend who borrowed it
    2. Get stroller back from friend who borrowed it and take it to the bike shop for new tubes for tires
    3. Get swing back from friend who borrowed it and stock up on batteries for it
    4. Finish organizing and cleaning our bedroom so that we can put all the baby's stuff away
    5. Wash, dry, and sort baby clothes
    6. Pack hospital bag
    7. Pack diaper bag
    8. Order breastpump from the one medical supply store that is covered by my insurance
    9. Finish shopping for all the little things (milk storage bags, lanolin, burp cloths, bibs, etc)
    10. Finish cleaning, organizing, and decorating #1's room
    11. Take #1's old clothes to a consignment store
    12. Not really baby related, but have #1's fall wardrobe purchased, cleaned, and put away before baby gets here (the first day of preschool is 2 days after my due date)
    13. Schedule housecleaners
    14. Finish up a ton of cleaning and organizing projects around the house

Ideally, I will have most of this stuff done in the next month. Ahhhhh!

  • @chardonnay24 I keep meaning to buy one of those Goupons for housecleaning. When are you planning on having them come by? Before your due date? I know I'd like the house to get a good deep clean before baby comes but I'm getting too uncomfortable to do it myself.
  • @wrightpalomo

I was thinking somewhere between 38 and 39 weeks? I have no reason to think I'll go early, but ideally, I'll have it done no later than 39 weeks just in case I do. However, I have a 3 year old and my house tends to get pretty disgusting in a matter of days post-cleaning lady, so I don't want to do it too soon.

  • Freezer Meals
    Finish cleaning out nursery closet
    Pack hospital bag
Replace a roller in the dryer
    Plan DS's birthday party
    Get patio done
    Organize stuff after the shower
  • @wrightpalomo‌ I am in love with your list. The list maker in me thinks it is beautiful. And I forgot to add cpr classes!!!! I knew this post would help me!!!
  • Now I've added some things on my to-do list because of these lists ahhhh! ;)

    I have:
Childbirth prep class (all day tomorrow)
Order changing pad (has to be a special size because of my table size)
    Get baby book (fun one!)
    Medical leave paperwork
    Start packing hospital bag

I'll have some more things to do after the shower, too! More baby clothes to wash. (There are so. many. baby clothes. This little dude is going to have to be a fashion model to get through all these onesies.) After the shower, I'll add "get all other necessary items needed" to the list, like breast pumping supplies.

I find new stuff to add to this dang list every single day.

  • * Get DS into his own big boy bed.
    * Set up co-sleeper next to our bed.
    * Talk to boss about maternity leave plans, specific dates. (HR won't do paperwork until after DD is born.)
    * Go through DS's clothes to weed out items he's too big for and make room to store DD's clothes.
    * Wash DD's clothes. (Sneaky like when DH is at work because he still doesn't know baby's sex.)
    * Dig the newborn size cloth diapers out of storage and wash them.
    * Put together the new rock-n-play and swing.
    * Move DS's seat behind driver's side and install DD's seat on passenger side.
    * Pre-register at the hospital.
  • I'm not sure if making this list will be a good or a terrible experience... Let's find out!

    -get crib hardware & mattress
-take childbirth class & sign up for BF class (waiting for the hospital to get off their butts and post more dates)
    -register with hospital
-figure out maternity leave & paperwork
-finish cleaning out nursery, paint & decorate it
    -shower
-finish registry after shower (aka BUY ALL THE THINGS because we have nothing)
    -get nursing bras
    -buy diapers
    -after birth, order breast pump

Uhh, yeah. Never have I been so glad to be an end-of-the-month-er, and have 11 weeks left.

    Finish baby room

    Take hospital tour
    Find new pediatrician
    Write baby shower thank yous
    Set up a co sleeper
Pack a hospital bad for baby and me/DH
  • I am 100% a "list" person. I make a list for everything -- or so it seems. My DH just chuckles but at least I remember what I want/need to remember.

So far on our to-do list is:
    - Clean and re-organize the bathroom cupboard & drawers. (Sounds silly but we have so much crap in there that needs to go. Plus we only have 1 bathroom so we need room for some of her stuff too.)
    - Clean out the freezer to make room for the freezer meals I am going to make.
    - Re-organize the deep freezer to make room for more freezer meals.
    - Work with my Mom (a lawyer) on getting our Guardianship forms all written & signed. (Never know what can happen, specially with DH's job.)
    - Fill out and submit my Pregnancy Leave forms with work.
    - Have the car seat & extra base installed in both cars.
    - Get cash out of the ATM to have for the hospital. (We never have cash on us and I don't want to worry about an ATM stop on the way to the hospital when it's "go time".)
    - Go buy nursing bras & post-delivery under wear.
    - Pack our hospital bags (at 34ish weeks).
    - Buy all the "wants & needs" left on our registry after our shower in two weekends.
    - After the shower - get the thank you notes in the mail, asap.
    - Pick out the breast pump I want so it can be ordered asap at delivery.
    - Finish getting all the baby "essentials" that we'll need.
    - Finish stocking up on the household "essentials" so I don't have to worry about shopping for at least 4 weeks after we get home.
    - Make at least 2-3 weeks of freezer meals.
    - Figure out life insurance.

I am sure there is more! I'm always adding something every day -- or so it seems.

  • Yay lists! I love lists. I just made our "still to do before baby" list last weekend and poor DH groaned, "another list?!" Haha I will spare you all the extensive Nursery to do list and Baby DIYs to do list. Here's our more practical, "must do before baby" list:

    • Sign & return L&D consent forms to hospital
    • Find a pediatrician
    • Finish buying baby essentials (we did a big buy last week since my shower was two weekends ago, so all we need now is a few NB size onesies in case she is small, breastfeeding accessories for me (some bras, nipple butter, a breastfeeding book), and NB disposable diaps in case we have trouble with the cloth, since we are brand new to both baby and diapering!)
    • Wash baby clothes, diapers, crib sheets, blankets, etc.
    • Put away baby stuff (once nursery is finished)
    • Install car seat bases in both cars
    • Have car seat installations inspected
    • Freezer meals
    • Pack hospital bag (Aug. 28)
    • Set up breastfeeding "stations"
    • Stock up on household items (TP, paper towels, pantry items, toiletries, etc.)
    • Stock up on dog & cat supplies (food, meds, litter)
    • Make sure any prescriptions we need are filled
    • Order breast pump
    • Prep baby announcement so I can just drop in a picture and order
And thanks to this thread I have a couple of things to add now! I didn't think of cleaning the house, that is an excellent idea. And I knew we wanted to take an infant CPR list, but neglected to add it to my list! This is how things get forgotten. Awesome thread!

    -Put entire room together
-Pack bag for L just in case my Mom isn't in town when I go into labor
    -Pack hospital bag for DH
-Buy parts for new pump/anything off registry
-Put carseat base in the car
-Get rest of baby stuff out of the attic

Too much! My list is much longer than this, but these are the priorities (in no particular order): - deep clean the house - stock freezer with meals - wash and put away baby clothes - do our hospital tour (this Tuesday!) - get hostess gifts for our showers - write thank you notes - install car seat and have inspected - pack hospital bag - decorate the nursery (yay!)
Ahh is a hostess gift a thing? I didn't even think about that... :( Whoops. Are you supposed to give those at the shower or after? Is a nice candle a legitimate gift? I have no idea what else I would get the three girls planning mine!

  • I though I was a head of the game but I started reading everyone's lists and looking around and thought "fuck! I have so much left to do!" Got a closet done and my clothes reorganized and now I am going to have ice cream because there isn't any where to get a damn elephant ear and/or cheese fries.
  • Quick question about FMLA: Is the only form I need the WH-380-E? My employer said she's never gotten any paperwork together for anyone's maternity leave before, so I'm in charge of finding the things we need.

    3. Clean and organize entire house

Pretty sure I have been working on number 3 for the last 2 weeks and dontfel like ive gotten far. Managed to donate 10 trash bags of clothes and house items though
    • Move DS2 to new room
    • Hang curtains in DS2's new room (this is a must since they are room darkening)
    • Hang pics (we'll get to that whenever).
    • Clean the "new" crib we got from a friend
    • Buy mattress pad and sheets for "new" crib
    • Move "new" crib from foyer to nursery (yep...we have a crib hanging out in our foyer)
    • Pick a photographer for newborn photos
    • Buy some newborn and size 1 diapers

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff.
