Tonight's the kind of night.. VENT

...that makes me wonder why the heck I decided to procreate not once but three times. I am sorry. I know that sounds so insensitive, but today has been so absolutely horrible.

I am a SAHM and my H has worked just over 90hrs this week. H and I woke up thinking he was going to have a short day at work and we both were going to get some rest. Nope. He got to work and a few hours later was on a plane flying to New Orleans and won't be home till tomorrow night at the earliest.

It's been gross and rainy outside all day so my boys have been cooped up. They have been little turds today because of it. The fighting, yelling, throwing, spilling, jumping, spitting, climbing, and fighting and yelling some more. I started to get a migraine so I tried to put them down for a nap. They fought me for 2hrs and ended up destroying their room. Took every piece of clothing, toy, bedding, ect and threw it on the floor.

The only thing I have been successfully able to do today is get a migraine. I almost kissed the delivery guy when he dropped our food off, and I would be lying if I didn't think about trying to bribe him to take a kid or two for a hours.

I absolutely love my boys. Love them. I would die for them. I wouldn't trade them for anything in this world and feel absolutely blessed to have these two little guys in my life... but holy hell am I over today. So incredibly done.

  • Their bedtime normally isn't till 9. They will be heading that way in just a few minutes. I don't care if it's over an hour early. I need them to be out of my face for a bit.

    They go to bed late!
Have a nice hot bath, some chocolate and relax if you can.

I know.. :( It's the only way we get to eat as a family and H gets to spend any time with them. I wish H was home earlier so he they could go to bed earlier.

  • If it makes you feel any better my girls had me in tears multiple times this week. Just a hard week. I hope you can get some rest and a fresh start.

    I'm sorry girl. :(

I have cried three times today. Once when I found out H wasn't coming home, another time while I was fighting the boys (that was the 10 mins that they destroyed their room, and right before I decided to order a pizza as I locked myself in the bathroom so I could have a minute and eat a nutty buddy without sharing..

  • I have two boys as well, they can be rough on a person. I hope you get to have some time to yourself tonight. Watch some TV and put your feet up, you deserve it.

I have had these days too. I am a SAHM to two boys with a third on the way. My DH travels for work a lot. There are some days that survival = success.

    Hang in there mama!!
  • Vent away.  Hopefully bedtime won't be too horrid tonight and you can get some rest.

  • @Eora3‌ my H travels a lot as well. Survival definitely = success, especially after a week like this .

@BrittP10‌ I tried and tried to get them to watch movies today and they just weren't having it. I went even as far as to give my 4yr old the remote to pick something. anything. as long as he would sit and be quiet. Nothing. Creepy ehugs coming your way!

Hope you get them off to bed and get some much needed relaxation for the rest of the evening.. Tomorrow will be a better day.

  • @BrittP10‌ frozen only 2 and a half times? I'd put it on repeat if they would sit still for it more than twice.

  • Well, you made it to bedtime without a trip to the ER or a visit from the cops. I call that a win. You are clearly a great mom and deserve a night of chocolate and Netflix while locked in your room.

  • Boys are in bed and asleep.

Parenting is so freaking weird. I have been counting down the seconds till bedtime. Like could not wait. And once they were in bed and sleeping all I wanted to do was stare at them and give them the biggest hug and snuggle ever. Sweetest little terrors ever. Ugh. Tomorrow has to be a better day.

  • Kids are tough, there are days (particularly when H is traveling) where I have counted down to bedtime. At my house the favorite is the Curious George Halloween special....no idea why....yes I know it's July, but it has been a favorite since last Halloween....
  • I'm sorry! As a SAHM, I know how tough days like that can be. I was just telling my husband the other night that I needed a break. My kids are 9 and 6 and actually very well behaved(80%) of the time but that 20% when they are monsters, Lord, help me! It's been over two years since I have spent a night away from them and I've maybe been on four dates with my husband this year. I'm exhausted just being mom and I only do it by myself from 5:30am to 5:30pm 5.5 days per week.

Have you thought about hiring a teen or college student as a "mothers helper" once or twice per week? Even just a couple hours break per week could be really refreshing for you!

Oh, and when my kids destroyed a room, if they didn't clean it, I took a large trash bag in and started putting everything in there, clothes included. They learned quickly that I wasn't messing around with the messes! I think they did it twice after the trash bag trick and never again!!
