Needing to be alone to fall asleep?

We have always held DD for some naps/bedtime to fall asleep. Routine has been pacifier and blanket by her face while we hold her. Some naps she falls asleep on her own in the crib, so that's no problem.

The last few days, when we lay down, she instantly starts screaming and fighting the pacifier. I think she knows I am trying to get her to sleep, and she has no time for that! So, I am forced to put her in her crib to fall asleep on her own, which she does after 10-15 minutes of fussing.

Anyone else had this come up at this age? Maybe she just needs to be alone to fall asleep? No real point to this post, just wondering if my days of cuddling my girl to sleep are over? :(

Re: Needing to be alone to fall asleep?

  • Same thing with DD!!! I always rocked her to sleep but lately whenever I take her and start rocking her in her chair she starts squirming and crying. She is fine as soon as I lay her in the crib. She wil roll around and babble until she just falls asleep. I think now that she is mobile she hates being constricted in her movements. That's my theory for the change

  • Yup mine has been that way for a while. She maybe takes a nap with us once a month it's very rare. She hates being constricted. So now I just stand with her by her crib and she snuggles into my chest while I sing twinkle twinkle and bounce a bit then I put her in her crib. She rolls around and does her thing until she falls asleep.
  • ^ this exactly. She likes to flip & flop before passing out. Every once in a while I can rock her if she wakes in motn.
