Has anyone had any experience with this? My LO who is 18 months came down with a fever of only about 100.5 on Friday. Since then and very quickly I might add she has becomeextremely cranky, irritable and cranky.  In the past 2 days her fever has gone down with Tylenol and also gotten up to 102.  I called on call ped yesterday bc I found blisters on her fingers and they basically said she probably has coxsackie and to call if it got worse.  So tonight her fever went up to 104.  Should I be worried.  I literally got off the phone with them 2 hours earlier when her temp was only 102 and he said " well I wouldn't worry even if her fever went up to 103 or 104." So now I don't know what to do....should I be worried? She has actually been better today, not as whiny, not lethargic in the least bit.  Still moody and hot.

    I may be wrong, but I believe this is commonly known as hand, foot, and mouth disease.

    DS had this over a month ago, it's extremely contagious, and the real bummer is, they can't do anything for it.  It's a virus, and it will run it's course in 5-7 days.  Tylenol and Advil for discomfort. 

    I thought DS was cutting molars because he was being really weird about the food he would eat (spitting out stuff he normally loves like kiwi, but chowing down on the mashed potatoes), and he had a low grade fever (around 100).  I gave him advil and sent him to day care with instructions that he might need some more, and he was eating kind of funny the night before.  They said he ate fine (but they get pretty bland food at DC), and played with his friends just fine, but did seem a little on the cranky side.  He was a crab that night, and when he woke up the next morning he had the blisters on his hands and feet.  I called the Dr., and they said it's going around, and that he wasn't contagious anymore (once they get the blisters, which is when you know what they're actually sick with, they stop being contagious - I hate getting other people's kids sick).  He was generally cranky and took longer than normal naps for two days, and then he was back to normal.  Meanwhile, EVERY. SINGLE. KID. at DC got it too.  I felt horrible.

    It sucks, but hang in there.

    Always trust your gut. We are just getting over our second round of Hand Foot Mouth and it is THE WORST. He first got it right before Christmas and this time around it is all over the daycare and his entire class got it at the same time. Both rounds he only had the fever for a day or two. He had lots of bumps on his hand, feet, around the mouth and butt for about a week. This time it was mostly white blotches INSIDE the mouth and a handful of bumps on his feet and one on his hand. HFM looks a little different every time. The worst part was how miserable and cranky he is while he is fighting it. My only advice is keep on top of the ibuprofen and let the little one eat as much ice cream as they want (the mouth and throat hurt REALLY bad). The first time around, when he would wake up inconsolable at 3AM, we let him have a couple bites of ice cream and it would calm him down enough to go back to sleep. (Also, lukewarm baths seems to be soothing)
