Newby question. My NP was trying to estimate when CD 1 will be so she did a follicle scan yesterday, my ovaries were resting. I decided to use an OPK stick I had lying around this morning and it appears I'm having an LH surge right now. Please tell me about anovulatory cycles? What does this mean for cycling? Will I even respond if I stim? I am ready to say eff it and ask for an FET with the donor embryos.

Re: My body is crushing my dreams!!!

  • My Lh surges even when I don't ovulate, either I take provera that "restarts" my body this has only worked once or I take clomid to get things going again.
    For a FET They will just give you estrogen and progesterone to make the lining what they want and you will stay on some combo until 10-12 weeks.

    @zazu13,

    I waited all day to hear from them and finally sent another email around 4 to the NP and I added our RE to the email. I couldn't take it any longer. I needed to know if having the anovulatory cycles means I'm that much closer to menopause or if it means that I'm simply having anovulation. The NP called me and come to find out our RE wasn't in today, I didn't ask why, maybe she is sick. So I still do not have answers. I have to wait until Monday.

    I didn't see the email from my RE until today, since my day was crazy busy yesterday. My RE replied to my emailed regarding my anovulatory cycle, this was her response "Ovarian function waxes and wanes, especially in the 5-7 years prior to menopause, so this weird cycle does not mean all your recent cycles have been anovulatory nor does it predict anything about the onset of menopause."

    This helps me from losing it 100% and I'm happy to hear this does not mean I'm in menopause.

    I will start estrogen priming this week for what I'm calling IVF #4, 5, and 6 (I’m not counting my canceled cycle with my OE's or DE IVF/FET as IVFs). I asked about a specific estrogen Mrs.McIrish told me about and my RE said "ethinyl estrasdiol (EE) is a synthetic E2. It is metabolized slightly different than E2 but ultimately acts the same. The main benefit of using it in a situation like yours is that it is not detected in the blood when we do an assay for E2, so we can differentiate between your natural E2 and the EE in your blood tests. Unfortunately EE is not available in the US except as a component of birth control pills, so the exact protocol using EE as described in the paper is not an option for us. That is why I recommended a mid-luteal estrace protocol instead."

    I like this plan, and I hope that this brings us our take home baby. I have been so emotional about this cycle and I'm so scared of the financial portion of it as well. Even though my RE says my anovulatory cycle is not indicative of menopause, I still feel that it means I'm that much closer. I fear that if we do not move forward soon I will not have any eggs left to cycle with. If this does not work, I hope we are able to transfer the donated embryos, if not, I will have them place us on the list for embryo adoption while saving up for a DE/DS cycle.
