I had a mc in April. Was told to wait for one cycle before trying again. So we tried to May. Now June is here. Took a test three days before my period was due. It was positive. Four days after that I started bleeding. It was super light and had a blood test done and everything came back negative. The nurse said it's probably my period. It's so light a panty liner does just fine and it's all pretty much brown and dark red. Nothing bright red. Anyone go through something similar?
Re: False positive
Have you taken any tests recently? What did your doctor say?

How long did you bleed? Was it spotting or a full on period bleed? A CP is when the egg is fertilized but doesn't implant and the cycle ends in your period.
I had a miscarriage just shy of 20 weeks at the end of January. I took tests in March, April, May, and June. June was the only one that didn't give a (very) faint line.
I'm very sorry for your losses.
As for the levels going back to 0 I have no experience with that but I know some people here have had a CP and gotten pregnant the next cycle.

I'm sorry. I don't think that's right. If there was no implantation, then the hpt would never have been positive. A cp is just an early miscarriage.
Op, sorry for your loss. I think your nurse was wrong.

One of my cp it only took a couple of days for a blood test to show up negative. If I wasn't going to an RE and had blood test early I probably would have even known. I had a couple of days of positive test and the blood test showed HCG of 8, which is considered pregnant but very low. 2 days later my HCG was 0.
2 different websites I looked at said CPs are a failure of the egg to implant on the uterine wall. I'll accept it if those websites are wrong but long ago when I was looking up what CPs are that's what I found. I mean it's the first answer that comes up in google so it's easy for that misinformation to be spread. My apologies if that was incorrect information.
I think it's best to say failure to implant correctly. Sometimes the embryo can start to implant which is when the HCG is produced but then never fully implants so your lining sheds and you have a period. A lot of times it's more than likely a genetic reason it doesn't implant. The embryo just isn't dividing correctly and can't fully attach. I asked my RE about progesterone problems than can also cause the lining to shed prematurely not alloying the embryo to implant correctly and he said it does happen but sometimes the low progesterone is a result of a genetically abnormal embryo to begin with.
I read a statistic once that 60% of pregnancies end in mc but most of the time no one ever even realizes because it's so early. In my experience with my cp's my period was really right on time but I just had positive pregnancy test in between because I need to go to POAS anonymous. I just had a more painful period and I wonder sometimes how many cp's have I actually had but never knew, because of only here recently have I had this POAS problem.
Regardless, I think the whole cp term just sucks! You had an egg that was fertilized and you have a baby growing but something happened. The term itself makes it sound like it was nothing and hearing false positive is just as bad. It is something and I think Dr's need to look at them as a pregnancy. My RE takes them seriously because he wants to know why it happened even though the answer may never be found but it gives a little more insight to what can be causing the problems and help with future pregnancies.
Sorry I'm just rambling. I get so aggravated at the term chemical pregnancy.

And, as always, ::hugs:: for you. I'm so sorry you've had to experience all that.
A CP is a pregnancy that ends before a gestational sac can be see on an us.
A CP is a pregnancy that can only be confirmed by chemical means (urine or blood test) and cannot be visualized by an u/s. Once a pregnancy can be visualized by an u/s, then it becomes a clinical pregnancy. My understanding of an MMC is that the body fails to recognize the loss. You will often see women on TTCAL who had an MMC say that they went in at x number of weeks for an u/s but the baby had stopped developing a few weeks before that.
Also, your first sentence about false positives does not make any sense. If it's a false positive it means that there was no HCG whatsoever in her system so they would have risen zero. Also, how can you tell OP that she will get her first period post loss within two weeks after hitting zero? You don't know this. It's okay to just give a (((hug))) or offer words of support. It is not okay to just spew out things that you seem to have made up.
OP, I am so sorry for your loss. You could call the nurse to verify whether you had a quantitative or a qualitative HCG done which would at least let you know if your HCG was zero or just not high enough to be considered pregnant. It's an important thing to clarify.
My only other question OP is, did you read the test within the time frame? If you did not, then it could be an evap line or a legit "false" positive. If you took the test per instructions and read it in the time frame and had a second line, even if faint, then I agree with the PPs that said a false positive is not very common - it is more likely a CP. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

FWIW the bleeding you're describing sounds exactly like my first post-MMC period. Did you ever get a negative HPT after your MC (to indicate the HCG was gone)?
Either way, I am just sorry. (((HUGS)))
