Update on bein admitted

Rundown I've been admitted aince Thursday due to what I thought was fluid.
Afi levels went up and fnn (pre mature labor) test came up positive again this morning , I'm not contracting or dialating no blood or anything . Doctor is unsure as of why it keeps coming up positive .
Have any of you ladies ever dealt with this ? If so what were te reasons of your failed fnn tests . I hear it happens but doesn't necessarily mean I'll go in labor soon. Baby is totally ok and alll .

Re: Update on bein admitted

  • I have no experience with this but glad that you and baby are doing ok otherwise. FX that they find an answer and you can go home.

  • It means any time in the next 2-3 weeks but it's a "maybe". Just a highly likely hood. It can mean your placenta is starting to degrade leaking labor hormone

A negative is much more reliable.

It is good though they are watching it.
  • So sorry! Thoughts and prayers.

  • I don't have personal experience, but I do know the test helps predict delivery within a time frame of a few weeks, like @justabean3 mentioned. This is a time to grill your doctors! Ask them when exactly your window of expected delivery is. Ask them how long your cervix is and what that number means. Ask them what happens if you don't deliver in the "expected" time frame, and what happens if you do. Ask about the fluid/discharge: if there's a tear in the amniotic sac, is there a chance it could repair by itself? If you can't get a straight answer from one person, ask to talk to somebody else.

I'm glad you and baby are OK--this must be so stressful. Hang in there and hopefully you can keep that LO one cooking for a while yet. xx

  • They don't see a tear or a leak which is why the doctors unclear, if my fluids are still up then that makes it more completed as to why the test is positive. No fluid or discharge

  • Yes I've received the shots of steroids for her lungs just as pre caution. Doctor is keeping me to make sure fluids stay steady because Theywere so low on Thursday . All the nurses are like ok the pre cautions have been taken and only thing that was worrying the doctor was the positive ffn, like I said there is no contracting no dialating so evening I went home there would be no reason to even be on bed rest . But it's doctors orders . I'm just feeling overwhelmed because I wasn't prepared work wise and left so much unfinished I think I'm just panicking.

Question : any of you ladies feel more moist then usual? They keep asking me and I feel moist but no leak .
  • Question: any of you ladies feel more moist than usual?

Yup. But I was told that's normal by my OB. I'd ask them how much is normal, and what you should consider to be too much.

I'm glad the baby is doing ok & that nothing is happening, labor-wise. I don't know a thing about fnn, so I guess I'll add that to the list of things I need to read up on. As far as moistness, I'd say the amount varies day to day, but I always seem to have some sort of funky collection of CM, urine dribbles, and sweat going on. Most of the time it's just enough to call the resulting condition "moist."

  • Bedrest is common procedure after a positive until you are 36 weeks or get a negative.

They are being better safe than sorry on this one most times.

  • Kinda late but I got a positive result with DD at 33 weeks. I was also dilated 1cm and 75% effaced. They put me on bedrest, stopped labour and gave me steroids. However she stayed in until 40+2. Everyone was shocked she didnt come sooner when at the time it was looking like I wouldnt even make it to full term.
