Weird Symptoms

I have already made an appointment to discuss with my doctor but I'm looking for insight as to what this could be possibly.

For the past 4/5 years I've strange episodes.

Its starts out like I'm in a mental fog, can't really focus or anything. Shortly after that starts I start having trouble with basic motor functions. Speech is slurred, holding on to things, etc. After that I be come so sleepy I can not stay awake, its almost as if I have taken a prescription sleep aid but I haven't. Once I fall asleep I wake up hours later and feel really weak.

The next day I'm fine. I always check my vitals glucose levels and blood pressure when the mental fog sets in. Its always normal. Glucose was 82 and B/P was 120/78 last time I had an episode which was earlier this week. I sleep 6/7 hours a day, eat healthy, and drink plenty of water usually 5/6 bottles of water a day.

It seems like they are progressively getting worse as the years go by. My family doesn't have a history of narcolepsy nor epilepsy and I do not have sleep apnea (was tested because I snore....I have enlarged adenoids though)

Any thoughts or insights?

No idea. I'm glad you're going to be talking with your doctor!

  • Glad you were tested for sleep apnea did they include the narcolepsy portion of it? Otherwise I would be consulting a neurologist.

  • They weren't happening a lot, and I was writing it off to poor diet, stress and other environmental factors.

  • My SO has a type of seizure. It is not epilepsy. There is no history of seizures in his family. He has them though. I would see a neurologist asap! My SO takes a pill every day and he is ok. Also there is a type of seizure called "drop seizures". It sounds like your symptoms! Please see a neurologist and good luck!

I had read also about pyschogenic seizures which are similar but now I don't have any of the stessors I had previously, so now it has me thinking there may be something 'really' wrong not just pyschological.
