Brown spotting - Should I stop progesterone?

I found brown/pink mucousy blood on my panty liner this evening. It was right after I had been walking around, shopping for 5 hours. I have no cramping or pain. And the bleeding seems to have stopped. My RE told me to stop taking my progesterone suppositories tomorrow since I'll be 10 weeks. Should I call my OB and check with them first? I'm so freaked out now. I haven't had any bleeding since my Egg Retrieval in May. I haven't had sex in over a week and my US last Wednesday was abdominal. I hope my little one is ok :(

Don't stress about it. The progesterone can irritate your cervix. My RE said to only call if it switched from brown to red or was accompanied by strong cramping.

  • @Stephanie2378‌ My RE (Doctor) gave me discharge instructions when I graduated the office to discontinue the meds at 10 weeks. That's normal protocol for progesterone because at this point the placenta should be taking care of progesterone production on its on. I've never had issues with low progesterone. It's just protocol from IVF to ensure my baby is getting everything it needs for a healthy pregnancy. It's not a self diagnosis.
  • 1)  Endometrin can definitely cause spotting
    2) When in doubt, call your doc.

  • My OB instructed me the progesterone is no longer needed so I should follow the REs orders to discontinue. She said monitor the bleeding and call the office tomorrow for an earlier appt.
