Hemorrhoids anyone? Ughhhh!

So yesterday, right before getting ready to register (which I was very excited about), I had a freak out session. I had a BM followed by wiping some blood. My PgAL brain went on overdrive. I haven't had any problems until this point. I immediately called my mom (because I call her pretty much any time I have a problem), followed by my doctor's office. I basically described what had happened and she said, "yup, you have what we call an internal hemorrhoid". She said it can't hurt the baby but it might hurt me, and sheeesh it really does! My butt has been stinging for some time now since yesterday. She told me to get more fiber in my diet, so I guess I will work on that, although I have been eating salads and fruit and I know they both have fiber. Anyone else and if so, what has worked to help you curb the 'roids? I still can't believe I got them and didn't realize they are so common in pregnancy.

I have had them for years. It feels like glass and it's horrible! I'm so sorry you're suffering, too.

What I have found that helps is to take stool softeners until the bleeding stops. This way it's a little less painful when you do go. For the internal ones, there's really not much else to do at this point. The bleeding can last for a few days though, so don't be alarmed! I know I was the first time!! And, if the entire hemorrhoid bursts, it won't look pretty in the toilet. Just a warning!

Also, Tylenol will help with the pain during the day if you're comfortable taking it. Hope it heals quickly!

1. Baby wipes help a ton when wiping.

2. Metamucil = my saving grace. Seriously. Talk to your doc and ask if you can take a teaspoon every morning. Once I started drinking metamucil, bye bye hemorrhoids.

3. Epson salt bath - only sit in the bath for 10 minutes. Talk to your doc and make sure that this is ok too.

Expect to get at least one with the actual birth. I did with my DD now they just flair up if I lift heavy things to long(moving). Try not to sit on the toilet to long and preparation h like all the other ladies said.

I had them before pregnancy; theyre awful! Im so sorry youre dealing with them. I agree with stool softeners, lots of fluids and fiber, and baths. My doc also told me that staying active helps. So any exercisig youre up for, do it! Hope you feel better soon!

Ok thanks ladies! You all are life savers. I never had this happen before so you can imagine my freak out when it did happen. Luckily, I didn't bleed much. It was really just when I wiped and I didn't see blood after that, but I am relieved to know it was just from the hemorrhoid. I bought Fiber One bars today which I am going to start eating. I feel like I probably don't get enough fiber in my diet so Ill start there and see what happens. I have an appt. at the hospital for the A/S in two weeks so if it gets out of control I will probably ask the doctors there about it. Thanks for the advice!!

Thank you for posting this and for all the advice ladies!! I wanted to post two days ago about the same issue but was slightly embarrassed. So glad I'm not alone. This definitely sucks and has me a little scared for what will happen during/after birth.

I did a bunch of research on this when I had a bad case about a month ago. I was prone to them before pregnancy and since its been worse. Up your water in take, hot baths, and activia. I SWEAR by that stuff now. I was having BM issues and since I added that to my diet it's smooth sailing!
