Umbilical hernia?

Last night we are laying in bed w his hand on my belly. We start giggling and laughing about something and mister goes "what the hell is that?" And is poking my belly button. When I start laughing a weird bulge happens coming out of my belly button. My best guess is that it's a hernia. Wtf?

  • I have one from my first pregnancy.  Ask your doctor to look at it.  They generally won't go away on their own and need to be repaired surgically.  Sometimes tissue can get trapped inside it and cut off from the blood supply, but I've had mine about 6 years now with no issues aside from being f-ing ugly.

  • I go to see my doctor on Monday for the same thing. I started to get a lump near my bellybutton at around 37/38 weeks and its still there, bigger than ever, but now it's super painful. I've heard of people having them for years without issue, but sometimes, they need to be repaired!

Yeah if it's painful you definitely need to get it checked out.  Mine has never been painful so my doctor said I was fine to leave it for now.

  • I will ask doc about it at next visit. If I have csection they might be able to repair it at the same time. (Doc is pushing for csection unless I have him by 39 weeks).
