How I know I'm officially a mom....

4 am here and my 11 week old has been waking up every hour with gas pains. Finally at 3:30 she showed signs of bring hungry so I usually feed her an ounce or two, change diaper, then finsh feeding. While changing her diaper her tummy was tight and she was crying, so I had DH go get the KY and a Windi. I rubbed her belly 3 times (the directions for the windi), stuck it in, and got nothing. Repeated and got a little gas out. Repeated a third time and out like a cannon shot baby poop all over my hand, shirt, face, and hair....

So I think I've officially entered into the mom club by getting poop shot at me, it getting on my face, and not throwing up!

Any of you guys had that "yep I'm a mom" thing happen to you? (Besides pregnancy and labor)

Wow! At least you know the windi is effective! I'm sorry that happened to you, but hopefully your LO feels better now.

  • First what the heck is a windy? For me two things tell me I am a mom, one is the fact that I now sometimes stick my finger in DD s diaper to check for poop, I realize one day I will get burned by this and secondly it's the fact that I rarely wear clothes that require ironing or buttoning during the week nor do I wear makeup or do anything more than a ponytail most days
  • @QOTR‌ she feels so much better! Well worth getting pooped on.

@Jennyinheaven‌ it is by Fridababy, the same people who make the Nosefrida.

  • Lol what an exciting night!! My mommy poo moment was in Panera, I was holding DD and thought ew what's under this table? Honey? Nope just poo...all over my fingers. Major side blowout! At least I was done eating.
That and peeing while nursing obv.

  • I don't have a specific mom moment, but my DH has a dad moment. He was holding LO so I can finish getting things ready to go out. Well all of a sudden MH says to me, "jess you need to change him" and I shot back "no you can do it" and he said "he just peed on me, it shot out the side of the diaper and into my hand." I couldn't help but laugh. Then the next day, DH put him down and noticed he got peed on again. Again all I could do was laugh.
  • I'm going to have to look into that windi! My poor LO is always having trouble with gas pains! I think my mom moment was when I was feeding her at the mall and got milk all over me because she decided she didn't want to eat she just wanted to suck so it was draining out of her mouth. I then walked around the store with a big wet spot by my boob. Also I've been sporting the new baby spit up perfume lately! That's real sexy for sure :)

OMG, I didn't know it had a name @MeaganStringer‌. We use to do this for DD with a thermometer & KY. My recommendation is to try it in the bath basin, no water obviously. Much easier place to clean up!

  • One Mom momment was after rushing to leave the house, i was driving and realized there was poop under a couple finger nails... And it didnt even bother me or gross me out! I just got to my parents, unloaded the kids and then washed better the second time!

I'm generally repulsed by puke but now LO pukes on me and I usually don't even bother to change. Why bother, he'll just do it again!

Shortly after coming home from the hospital, LO had the first of many diaper changes where we thought the poop had stopped, but instead the eruption continued during her diaper change. DH was doing this change and called for help. I got there, we looked at each other and cracked up as poop flowed everywhere... and then pee did too- from me and my newfound lack of bladder control at at point. It was quite the disaster, but definitely solidified that I'm a mom now and life has changed!
  • When LO was 2 weeks old, I was changing her on the bed while sitting in front of her. She pooped all over me! It even got into my c/s incision.  I just got up, bathed her, DH put sheets in the wash, and he held her while I showered. I felt like a real mom that night.

  • I'm glad to know we aren't the only ones. When DD was 2 weeks old DH went to change her and she wasn't finished yet. She soaked the changing pad so I came to help. He was then holding her with no diaper while I cleaned and changed everything. She started pooping again. I couldn't finish what I was doing because I was laughing so hard. Especially when she did it a second time in his hand. I still thought it was funny until the other day. DD is now 8 weeks and I had her ready to set in the tub when she peed all down my shirt so I stopped for a second. She then pooped on me. I yelled for DH to come help and suddenly the shoe was on the other foot. She continued to poop and I just stood there until she was finished. Needless to say we both needed a bath after that.
