July 3rd I was having tightening of my stomach but I didn't think much of it because I had been doing a lot during the day and just thought I had overdone it. The next morning I woke up to wet underwear but wasn't sure if it was my water or not. Needless to say my morning sickness hit just as it had for the past 9months and I was throwing up and noticing more fluid leaking. I called the OB and they told us to come in and get checked. So we packed up our stuff and our bags and headed to the hospital. They did a NST and everything looked good but toco showed I was definitely contracting. They did a speculum exam and nothing was really pooled but they swabbed which didn't show anything so they did a slide to look for ferning which was negative. The OB wasn't convinced because upon a quick look if had a puddle on the pad I was sitting on. She did another swab and slide, another negative... So then she did an u/s to check my fluid levels... Normal. She just wasn't buying that I wasn't ruptured given the amount of fluid and my contractions so she did one more speculum, swab, and slide. Finally after letting the slide dry for almost 45 minutes she saw the ferning and let us know we were having a baby! We found out around 2pm that I was ruptured and didn't end up going for our c-section till 8:20pm. By the time I went in I was so nauseous... I hadn't eaten in 24 hrs.... And anxious. They did the spinal everything went fine but as soon as they layed me down the nausea set in again and I threw up for basically the entire case =[
Anyway they took him out and told us it was a boy and DH got to hold him until it was just about time for me to go to the recovery room. Honestly as much as it sucked being sick the whole time I was on the table I was so excited to finally meet my little peanut and make the jump from team green to team blue. We were so tired the first night we didn't get to my room until 1:30am but were so lucky that our family waited and got to come to our room and visit for a bit. We stayed in the hospital until Tuesday and made the venture home. We are both doing well and I can't believe he is a week old already.
I should add that we were scheduled for a section July 9th because our growth scan showed him at 10lbs 7oz but he decided he wasn't going to wait that long and wanted to have fireworks on his bday every year! He ended up being 9lbs 6oz and 21" long.
ETA: because I forgot stuff =]
