Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Disney Trip

We will be traveling to Disney with our 13 month old next week ...

- any suggestions on things we may need throughout the day at the parks? any other advice would be great :)

Re: Disney Trip

  • Bring bottled water.  It is very hot in the park.  We live in Orlando and just went a couple weeks ago to get DS's haircut for the first time.  They do a really nice job with the first haircut.  We were there in the afternoon for a couple hours and it was so warm.  Thank goodness you can bring in some water.

  • You can get free ice water in the parks at any of the quick service locations.  Just ask for an ice water...we took our own filtered water bottles and just poured the free water into that.

We also did the first hair cut at the barber shop and it was really cute.  She did a great job and he got his first set of ear that say "First Haircut" on the back.

The baby care centers are an awesome place to change diapers or feed baby if need be.  When we went, DS2 was only 11 months old and still nursing so I fed him in the baby care centers.  They have rocking chairs, changing tables and they're nice and cool.

Ergo/baby carrier, lightweight stroller that can be folded easily in case you park hop and need to ride the bus. Staying at a resort on the monorail helps a lot if you are mostly headed to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot - the buses can get crowded and you sometimes walk onto a bus with no seats and tired, cranky people can get all awkward about letting you sit down to hold on to the baby. BUT, it isn't terrible - we did it twice and stayed at The Wilderness Lodge and a The Yacht Club. I have also used Garden Grocer to deliver diapers, wipes, snacks, bottled water straight to our hotel room. We have also hauled all of that in our luggage so we'd save money and have more room for souvenirs on the way back. As far as meals, we try for places that are pretty quick or sit down ones with a lot of theming. Buffets can be great, too - baby can try lots of different things and they don't have to wait for food to be served. And I buy some of those Take n' Toss sippy cups and spoons (you may need extras when baby decides to hoard a few while eating lol). Disposable placemats and bibs are awesome as well. It sounds like a lot of work, but honestly it is manageable and we love it. We have gone with DS when he turned 2 and 3, then again when he turned 4 and we had our 9 month old DD. She was little but she loved all of the sights and experiences :)

  • One other thing I remembered - they have baby sitting services available.  So you can always choose that option if you want a kid free night.

  • We just went in May when DS2 was 10.5 months. We had a great time. Totally recommend going early and then leaving for nap. We went to Epcot a couple of nights for dinner and they have some cute playgrounds there that my kids loved. We brought our lunch almost everyday and it made life with 2 little ones way easy because the lines at lunch were very long the one day we didn't and everyone got cranky. Plus, we saved a lot of money and then just had nicer dinners.
