March 2015 Moms

Water.

Today I left my water bottle at home and have only been sipping on a ginger ale. Big no no apparently because I am now getting extreme fuzzy brain with a pulsating headache.

I normal drink close to 80fl of just water throughout the day and at night when I wake up to pee. I also drink other fluids like juice and club soda when needed. How much water are you ladies consuming daily? Do you feel like your getting enough water in this heat? What are your favorite thirst quenchers?

I drink about a gallon of water a day (80 ounces on my slow days). I am definitely getting enough! I like to put lemons or limes in it with tons of ice!

  • I'm not measuring, but I am drinking all the water!  Pregnancy makes me super thirsty and the first trimester gives me a little dry mouth or something.  Literally cannot get enough water.

  • I've been adding lemons to my water too. Helps my nausea.

  • I drank a gallon of water a day before I got pregnant almost every day.... now I'm drinking even more because it's pretty much all I'm drinking (or gatorade as a special treat). I love water!!

  • I drink at least 120oz a day, but probably closer to 144oz.
  • Good to know! I have been drinking a lot of juices with my water this week so my fluid intake is staying pretty high. BF got me some Orange Carrot juices that I cannot stop drinking!

  • Man, I really need to step up the water intake. I try to drink throughout the day, especially since it's so hot, but I need more. I have this crazy (or not so crazy) idea that P was breech last time because I didn't drink enough water and my amniotic fluid level stayed low, so I plan to chug chug chug this time!

  • I was doing so good until a few days ago.. Water just makes me so nauseous now. Maybe adding lemon will help
  • I thought I was going pretty good until I read this thread! I've been averaging around 80-90 ounces per day since I got pregnant. This week I seem to have slacked off a bit and have been around 60-70 ounces.

This water consumption is very impressive for me b/c I have never really been a water drinker but when I got pregnant, I was just sooooo thirsty! Anyway, you ladies have inspired me to step it up a bit. I'll be aiming for 90-100 each day from now on!

  • Drinking water is really important to me this time around. I was dehydrated with my lost baby and had low amniotic fluid. After we lost him pathology reports showed no cause for his death, genetically everything was fine. I've spent a lot of time blaming myself for not forcing myself to drink more water when I wasn't thirsty.

I may be drinking more than necessary but I'll be damned if I let that happen again.
  • Oh wow.  I don't drink nearly enough water.  I never have, but didn't realize it could be bad for pregnancy.  I just finished off my 20oz nalgene and that's all I've had today.  I better start guzzling!  Eek!  How do you force yourself to drink more when you don't get thirsty?

@PuppyLove84‌ I have a camelbak. I literally sit with the straw between my teeth for most of the day. I take it every where with me, too. And as soon as it's empty I refill it.

I personally don't like infused water but a lot of people do. Pinterest is full of recipes for infused water if you want to try that.

  • @janda426‌ I've been thinking about you, how is your nausea predicament going?

Thanks- It comes and goes. I'm having hardcore aversions and as soon as I think something will taste good, H and/or I is on the hunt to make it or buy it. The shitty part is immediately after I eat I regret it and usually want nothing to do with it again, so the list is growing smaller and smaller hah. Womp womp
  • PuppyLove84 it is easy. Small sips every 5-10 minutes and before you know it the water is gone.

  • I am awful about drinking fluids. I usually have coffee, maybe something with lunch and before my bfp, I would have wine....

I'm trying to force myself to drink more fluids throughout the day, but I still don't think I'm getting enough. My go to is sparking water.
  • I really thought that something was wrong because all I have been wanting for the past week is water. Lots and lots of water.
  • I absolutely loathe drinking water (my taste buds are spoiled) :(( but ironically in the last few days since learning I was pregnant I have been craving just water and nothing else. Fyi its helped a lot with constipation too.

Thanks @SNLT1012 and @melleasndrs!  I stole my H's camelbak and will start wearing it around the house, and I will set my phone alarm to beep at me every 10 min at work so I am reminded to sip! I'm on a water-drinking mission!  And I'm totally looking into infused water, too.... sounds yummy!

ETA: DH is now making me watermelon mint infused water.  Love him!

  • I can't get enough of it! It just tastes so good this time around and I've given up pop and sugary drinks so my water intake has really increased.
  • I don;t really drink much water at all :( I know I should. I drink alot of milk.
  • @PuppyLove84‌ I also wanted to mention that, for me at least, once I got into the habit of drinking more water (I started while TTC) I started wanting more water. I'd find myself staring longingly at my water bottle if it was empty and hadn't had a chance to refill it yet. I take a bottle to bed with me and I refill it as soon as I wake up in the morning, instead of brewing a cup of coffee.
  • I'm probably averaging over 100 oz.  I fill my 24 oz bottle at least 3-4 times plus whatever else I drink at meals, with pills, etc.

Good to know, thanks!  I am almost done with my first 20oz bottle of watermelon infused water for the day, so at least I'm doing better than normal!  My H, my mom, and my doctor have all told me I need to drink more fluids, but somehow the thought that it might hurt my pregnancy makes it really hit home.

  • I usually drink at least 60-70oz of water. I carry a 64oz metal bottle with me everywhere plus I have a 20oz protein shake in the morning. Typically I don't get through the 64oz bottle, but yesterday, I had my shake, the full 64oz, and refilled the bottle (didn't drink the whole thing). I'm glad I'm wanting the water! :)
