Question for ladies who do acupuncture with an IUI cycle

I've been doing acupuncture on and off for the past year or so.  This past time I started up again last month (with a new acupuncturist close to my workplace).  I was wondering if other ladies aim to get acupuncture treatment at specific times of their cycle when doing IUI?  How about the day you go in for IUI ....do you aim to get acupuncture that same day?  Thanks in advance!  I've usually just gone in for treatment when my schedule allowed (which is tough in between RE appointments and work).  I haven't really been mindful of where in my cycle I am when I go in for treatment and it's just occurring to me that maybe I should.

Me - Left salpingo-oophorectomy at 19 due to large cyst/torsion  and 2 large uterine fibroids found at age 30
Him - Borderline low sperm count (correcting through Fertility Blend supplement)

TTC #1 since Jan 2013
First appointment with RE 10/2013.  
April 2014 - Clomid 100mg CD3-7.  HCG shot CD10 IUI #1 done on 4/12/14 (CD12) ....BFN
May 2014 - Break cycle to repeat saline sonogram and re-group.  Travel to Kauai 5/7-5/12 (Yay!!)
June 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD4-8.  HCG shot CD14.  IUI#2 done on 6/9 and 6/10 (CD15-16) w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW .... BFN
July 2014 - Clomid 150mg CD3-7.  Ultrasound CD12 - 4 mature follies! HCG trigger shot CD12 AM.  IUI#3 on CD13 w/ Prometrium suppositories during TWW ....BFN
July 2014 - Repeat ultrasound done to measure size of fibroid - 8x9cm (the size of a grapefruit!) Surgery referral made.
August 2014 - MRI done which revealed 2 fibroids: a 13x15cm fibroid as well as an 8x7cm one.  Super freak out mode over surgery plan.  OB-GYN/surgeon said surgery would most likely have to be a laparotomy (open abdominal surgery)
August 2014 - After a 2nd opinion, plan to take Lupron x 2 months to shrink fibroids then laparoscopic/robotic myomectomy.  Surgery date is set for Nov 21st!  
November 2014 - Robotic myomectomy done (2 large fibroids removed, mild endo found).  Benched x 3 months

    I did 3 cycles of acupuncture with natural cycles & 1 with an IUI cycle.  I usually do 3 sessions per cycle, around days 7, 14 & 21 (even with the natural cycles).  He likes the second one to be as close to the IUI as possible.  I schedule my appointments in advance, to make sure I get in, with my best guess of my IUI timing.  But last time my IUI fell on a weekend, which he wasn't available for.

    Do you do acupuncture specifically for TTC, or just overall?  Do they check where you are in you cycle when you go in for a session?

    Ultrasound #1 10/6: 1 bean!

    @ky29 - Thanks for your response!  I like seeing what other people are doing.  

    To answer your question, I do acu for TTC specifically.  I never did it before for anything else.  They always ask me where I am in my cycle but he doesn't seem to emphasize that I should come in on any specific day in relationship to my IUI.  I had my IUI today so I'm gonna try to make an appointment to see him tomorrow!

    I have never been for acupuncture prior to this IUI; I had it the day of IUI then 3-5 days after (went day 5) to encourage implantation. She recommended I go a week after that session but at $100 a pop I just can't afford it.

    I've heard that acupuncture can help fertility. Seeing your post makes me want to look into it more. Thanks for sharing!

    Me: 31, PCOS

    2nd round of P4 to induce AF. Metformin 2,000mg daily x2months - no change.

    Medicated cycle #1 Femara 2.5mg x 5 days + Novarel = BFN.

    Benched to redo labs, trying new meds. Starting Clomid next cycle. 

    Some people just need a high-five...in the face...with a chair.

    I have done acupuncture for years and now I do it mostly for TTC.

    I go in on the same day as my IUI -- like @ky29this cycle I had to go in the following day, as it fell over the holiday weekend. Mine suggested coming in the same day as IUI when I can. I also try and go in in the first half of my cycle, to help with menstrual symptoms or to help get the ovaries going. 

    She expressed that timing is particularly important for for IVF (I am just starting to learn all of the terminology so forgive me, but I guess you should go in on the day of the embryo transfer?). Some studies actually show it can help your chances with IVF -- my clinic even provided some acupuncturist recommendations in my IVF intro packet.

    I know they adjust the points based on where you are in your cycle: to having a healthy "bleed" at Days 1,2... to helping your blood flow and keeping things "in" around IUIs, for example.
