LO and water help

I cannot get DD to drink water throughout the day. She downs her milk like nobody's business, but water is a whole different story. We spend a TON of time outside and I do not want her becoming dehydrated. I have tried every cup I can, even ones with her favorite characters. She takes a couple sips and then is done. Even when I had to put a tiny amount of apple juice in her water to help her poops, she still did not drink it. Any tricks I have not thought of yet?

  • If you find out tricks, let me know! We have the exact opposite problem -- both of our girls do great with their water throughout the day, but as for milk -- unless it's BM from a bottle, they want nothing to do with it. Nothing. I'd love to be free of the pump one of these days! We only give them bottles first thing in the AM and just before bed -- our pedi is fine with it, even now, but one of these days I'd love to, you know, no longer pump. :)

  • Maybe try adding fruit to the water? Like cucumber or pineapple or something?

  • Try an ice cube or two in the water. It makes a sound in the cup. My son goes crazy over it and loves drinking water that way.

  • DS loves having an ice cube in his cup. He loves to shake the cup and says "bang." For some reason this gets him to drink water. I did introduce water early (around 6 months) in small amounts so he is used to it.

  • DD also goes crazy over ice lately. If I try to give her normal water she just keeps begging for ice!
  • Ben won't do water in sippy cups. We got him a reusable straw cup and put ice and sometimes fruit in & he loves it . He will also drink out of a camelback waterbortle- we found kid sized ones at costco

  • DS will drink water froma sippy but not much. I got him a Rubbermaid straw cup/bottle thing. It leaks like crazy if he lays it down but he thinks it's fun to drink from. I second @chilibeansm0m on the drinking from my cup or bottle front. If I really need him to drink water I get a bottle of water or any cup that's mine and drink from it first. Then he's in and usually drinks a bunch!
