Please rec your thermometer...

So, my Exergen Temporal thermometer still ain't acting right (keeps reading like 96.7-96.9). I've tried cleaning the lens, replAcing batteries, acclamating it to room temp, and no dice. Wtf.

I also just bought a Walgreens brand digital ear thermometer today and its a piece of fucking junk. Keeps reading ridiculous low temps like 97.0 or 95.5. My house is always hot as balls (even with a.c. running its at least 70-75ish degrees in here), so I know these thermometers are bullshitting me.

Any recs? I'm gonna call Exergen customer service tomorrow, bc I like the temporal, and only bought it like 6-8 months ago. And I'm kinda pissed that the ear thermometer i bought today, i paid in cash and the cashier never gave me a receipt..wtf. Andplusalso..it pisses me off that i'll need to wake my kid up to take his temp (rectally) bc thats the only reliable thermometer we own at the moment.

We have that Braun ear one too. Sometimes if we take DS' temp and the results are extreme, we'll do the rectal one to confirm, but it's always been reliable within about a degree.

If you have CVS Extracare, there's a coupon this weekend for 30% off your entire purchase.

  • Well then. Looks like I have my answer! Thanks guys. I'm gonna go back to the W algreens today and see if they'll take this ear one back since I just bought it yesterday, even though the cashier never gave me a receipt. I'm irked bc it costed 30 bucks!

But thanks for the heads up on cvs @maebb. I'll go there to buy it instead.

  • I have an Exergen at home and at work (I'm an RN so I use it daily). I have had my personal one for over 3 years and the work one was used when I got it 2.5 years ago and they both work fine. They are much closer to actual core temp than the ear ones. I would say you should call and see what's up. Is it still under warranty?

@Mags748‌ it should be. Its not even a year old. But I have no clue where the fuck the receipt went. I bought it from Amazon, so I could prob find the charge on my credit card statement if need be.
