Team Green Check-In

I just wanted to check in with all of the team green ladies to see how you are doing. Have you picked a boy and girl name? Any second thoughts on being team green? Did you pick your going home outfit?

We have a boy name we are about 90% sure on but no girl name yet. I'm glad we are team great but I do have my moments when I I really wish I knew. No going home outfit yet. We bought a couple gender neutral outfits but no going home outfit. There is not much out there to choose from.

Re: Team Green Check-In

  • I am almost 100% on a girl name, Adelyn.  Boys names we  have yet to agree, and DH doesn't seem to be in the mood to talk about it most of the time.

We have a 3D/4D Ultrasound on Saturday and I have to admit I am so tempted to find out! We will hang in there though.  We still have to pick a going home outfit, lots to pick from that we have already purchased, but I am going to shop around yet :)

  • We are still holding strong. We had the ultrasound tech write the sex on an envelope and seal it up for us. I'm actually looking at it right now, sitting on the dresser, staring at me.

We are more settled on a boy name than girl…we have a pretty long list of possibilities for a girl.

I sometimes feel like opening the envelope, sometimes happy with holding out for the labor-day surprise. We may still open it at some point -- make a special night out of it with just me and DH -- but for now, still green!

No outfit yet. But I did order a really cute blanket from etsy!

  • We think we are set on names, but there's still a LOT of time to change our minds. We were team green with DS too, but we never picked a girls name. Right now we like: Lincoln Ryan and Estelle Marie.

Just thought about going home outfits. Will probably wait until more fall clothes are out to choose though. That was so fun last time!

I was just thinking earlier today that I definitely think team green is easier second time around.

  • I love being Team Green :)  I will probably have several more ultrasounds (high risk) but I am not feeling tempted.  We think it will be Julia or Marshall.

We were Team Green w/DD too I've been thinking the new baby could wear the same going home outfit as her.  Very simple little outfit with ducks.

  • Still feeling great about Team Green...I feel even better every time someone does a "how to keep people from giving me only little dresses or sports jerseys at my shower?" post.

We have had our boy and girl names since before I was pregnant last time. They are Esther Rose and Byron Jack. All family names with one from each side.

I think I may be picked the going home outfit. We have gotten quite a few cute clothes so it is hard to narrow down. Here are my top two picks...which do you like?

  • @mcclan03‌ I probably would have opened the envelope in a moment of weakness, but I didn't have much trouble getting though the anatomy scan.

I'm not high risk so I have no ultrasounds scheduled. I think the hardest thing for me is having to pick two names because we are not even close to picking a girls name. If we have a boy we are most likely going with Jared William.

@jcsumm0‌ I love the name Julia. If we weren't trying to use a family name from DHs side then that would be at the top of my list. DD got her first and middle name from my side so we are trying to pick from DHs side. There just aren't many girls names in his family tree that I would consider using.

  • @mcclan03 Dude, that is some serious will power.  I love being team green but I do not think I could handle than envelope.  I'd have to burn it or something :)

@JessAnnJ Julia was my grandmother's name :)  Most of the family names we like are from my side but I don't mind since the kids will have DH's last name.  Darn your H's family for their poor name choices!

@MissMandyD I like the first one best.  I think it's less busy and will look better in pictures.
  • Hanging in there, happy to be team green. It is fun to talk about the what ifs. No going home outfit, I was just thinking I need to get DDs newborn stuff out soon and see what gender neutral things we have (we knew she was a girl). Names are still up in the air, we have a few for each but haven't committed yet. Just got our crib last week, our old one was second hand and worn out. Very excited to start working on baby's space!

  • Still Team Green over here, but I have not started any prep for the baby. We'll get a coming home outfit later (probably in September) and this time around, I will buy one of each gender. I didn't like having my baby girl in yellow and white--I wanted her in pink as soon as I could, so this is something we'll do different. Most of our other shopping will be after baby is here (for blankets and clothes if we need more).

  • @MissMandyD‌ those are both adorable!
  • @mcclan03‌ we have ours sealed up too--today (28weeks) is the husband's bday and the day we decided to open it up--going from green to blue or pink and I couldn't be more excited!
  • @pinkshade05, we haven't really done any baby prep yet either! We're team green, but its driving me crazy with trying to find crib bedding. We're settled on names but like other PPs, there's still plenty of time to change. We do know his/her coming home outfit will be in our college colors though - it will be football season after all!

  • Yay for team green! I am still in disbelief that I am staying strong! I love being team green, and have no us scheduled so we won't know until baby arrives!
I haven't even though about a going home outfit until I read this....so umm yeah I got nothing! Even with this being baby #3 we have nothing from our boys so we are starting all over. Just bought the crib and started to paint. I was much more prepared at this point with the boys!! Guess that's what happens with 2 kids and 55 hour work weeks.
    Great job team green ladies!!

We are still holding out strong with Team Green and i love it!! We have one more US around 35 weeks just to make sure baby is down and ready to go! But we will hold strong.

We have names figured out. Just finalized that yesterday. We have the room painted but thats about it for our prep for now. No going home outfit yet.
  • I love the look of horror people have when I tell them we aren't finding out the baby's sex.
:-O  haha.  We know a boy will be Drew Thomas, Jr., but still up in the air about a girl's name.

We are currently in the midst of a full kitchen remodel so no baby prep yet.  All the talk about going home outfits is making me want to browse at BRU when I go pick up my maternity support belt later!

  • We are team green as well. I think it's pretty fun and exciting to wait until delivery to find out.

We don't have a going home outfit picked out, not sure that this will really be a huge priority.. A sleeper will do just fine.

We have a boy and girl name picked for now, with a few back ups in case the name just doesn't seem right once the baby is born.

I've been encountering lots of pregnant women lately (work, friends, etc) who aren't finding out the sex. I think it's refreshing. :)
  • I love that so many of us haven't done any baby room prep! Makes me feel normal and less behind!
  • Team green here! We honestly haven't thought twice about it; it's so fun not knowing and I've found it saves $$$ not buying unnecessary purchases that may be too girly or too boyish. Can't wait for all team green ladies to reveal their bundles.
    EDD: 10/5 Team Green
  • Team green and still very excited to be! I almost think it is harder this time around, because we're expecting two instead of one, and it makes me want to know more. I'm happy that we're staying team green though. (With an u/s every month though, it is more tempting to find out!)

We have 3 girl names picked out and 3 boy names (all subject to change) so we're not pinned down to any one name and/or combination of names once the babies get here.

We moved DD into a "big girl" room on her 2nd birthday (in June) so we had to get that room ready, and we're using her old nursery for the babies. We got a second crib, but we're going to wait and see if they end up being ok in the same crib for a while, and go from there.

We're planning to go through DD's clothes she has grown out of to find a going home outfit (we were team green with her too).

  • We have had a sealed envelope for about 10 weeks now.  I am dying to know, but DH refuses.  I have been so tempted to look at the envelope when he isn't around and even told him that I would look and not tell him, but he said that I would start using the coordinating pronoun whenever I talked about the baby so he would figure out what it is.
We have a boy name pretty much picked out, but we are still throwing around a couple of girl names, both first and middle.  I think I have bought every gender neutral outfit that I can find which is not a lot.  I have a feeling that I will be doing lots of clothes shopping once the baby arrives.
My coworker said she wanted to get the going home outfit.  I'm not really sure why she thought she should do that.  I think that she thinks we are closer than what we really are.  My mom got really upset when I told her this and said that should be the grandparents' job to get the going home outfit.  I have considered taking a picture of the baby in the car seat with the outfit from the coworker, but then actually using whatever outfit my mom wants to bring the baby home.
  • Cliff notes since I went on a bit of a tangent about the name...

    1.  Going strong with Team Green!
    2.  We don't have a single thing for this baby yet but The Baby Depot with Burlington Coat Factory is still carrying the crib and dresser we got for our son.  We love it and will be getting the same one for this baby, just need to find time to make the 2 hour trip to get it.
    3.  No take home outfit yet but we will be bringing a boy and girl outfit with us, just like we did with my son.  I liked not having him go home in a gender neutral outfit and want the same for this baby.
    4.  Boy name - Marcus with no middle name decided on yet.
Girl name - Husband likes Alexandra and I like Adrianna.

As for names, we only have a boy name decided on and it's only the first name so far.  Marcus will be the name is this is a boy.  For a girl, my husband currently likes Alexandra but I'm not crazy about it.  I really love the name Adrianna but he's not crazy about my name choice!  It's annoying and our baby will never be named.  We told my in-laws about our current favorites for a girl and MIL instantly liked Alexandra and said we can call her Lexi as a nickname...I hate nicknames.  She didn't say anything about my name choice and I know it's because all she could think was Anna would be a cute nickname and our niece is named that.  I HATE ALL THE NICKNAMES AND DON'T WANT THEM USED TO BEGIN WITH.  How on earth they figured out a way to call Xavier by nickname is beyond my comprehension because it's not a name I think should be shortened in any manner.

  • @crystal8503‌ - when you brought a boy and girl outfit last time were you sad at all that there was one you didn't get to use? I guess I'm worried it will make me sad to wash two little outfits and only use one.

  • Still going strong on Team Green here! Really we are excited to know, but also excited to be surprised. Had a few moments where I wanted to know in advance but overall, feeling good about waiting.

We've picked our names and barring any last minute changes think we'll stick with them. For Boy: Zachary Conor; For Girl: Caitlin Rose.

My mom came to visit and went to town on the Layette and bought us almost too many gender neutral newborn and 0-3 month outfits, so we just have to decide which one is the "going home" one. I'm not so into the whole pink and blue thing, so think we'll probably stick with a gender neutral going home outfit. I'm probably only going to wash some of the clothes and leave the tags on the rest - as if the baby is born larger - the newborn stuff will be outgrown pretty quick and we  may end up returning some.

No, I wasn't sad.  It actually timed out well for me to give it to my sister for my niece and it didn't go to waste.  I probably would have kept it if my sister wasn't expecting.  I was happy to finally know which outfit my baby would wear home and having something specific to my baby is more important to me than feeling as if I wasted a few dollars on an outfit that won't be used.  He wore gender neutral outfits while in the hospital but his going home outfit was all boy.  It was black fleece pants with a cute white long sleeve and a red/black checkered fleece jacket.  It was SO FREAKING CUTE!

I had to do a double take on your name choices because I originally read it as Cailyn Rose instead of Caitlin Rose because that's my niece's name.  So cute!

  • Still team green! At our AS ultrasound both DH and I tried looking, but didn't see anything. Still holding strong though! I have a couple of onsies, but no going home outfit yet. I was planning in waiting until September when fall clothes are out. We are pretty settled on a boys name, but not very close on a girls name. I just haven't found one that starts with a C that I'm crazy about. We are pretty sure it will be Carter if it's a boy. Chloe is the only girls name we like so far.
  • Woot! Go Team Green!! :)

We're still pretty relaxed about not finding out. We have a casual list going that we add names to everytime we think of one we like, but we have yet to go back through the list and narrow it down. And most people that we mention not finding out to are pretty excited for us!

IKEA crib and dresser are assembled! The room, which had first been a guest bedroom, is painted Martha Stewart 'Milk Pail".

Going home outfit was on my registry and was purchased, so WOOHOO!! Although not sure if a wrap-front/kimono-style would be better. :)

  • I'm still going strong with Team Green too!  When people ask and I tell them I don't know what I'm having, they say well when will you find out, and I always say after I deliver...people don't get it!  We don't have a going home outfit yet either, I think we will wait to see what we get from our baby shower.  I know my Great Aunt plans on buying 1 girls outfit and 1 boys outfit, sooo we may bring her picks to the hospital with us, as she is more like my grandma to me, and I know she would be tickled pink by it.

We have got most of our nursery together.  The walls are all painted, we have a rocking chair that my MIL & FIL got for us, and 2 dressers that I had as a child in there.  My mom is buying the crib, soo that's really it.  We are going to use the low dresser as a changing table, so none of that needed for me.

Oh and as for names. We are pretty set on Oliver Ryan (last names sounds like Tote) for a boy, but as for a girl...we are lost!!  I really like Genevive...but DH is not sold. His stupid parents asked for an idea of what our names were and then poo-poo'd all of them, so I think he is trying to think of what their opinions will be.  We LOVE Claire, but my sisters LO's middle name is Claire, and when we ran using it as a first name by her, she said nothing...so I'm taking that as a No...I'd love to hear any suggestions though!

  • Having fun being team green again this time!!!   Kid2 even has a name in utero, Kid2.  Our daughter was kid or knee-high (long story!).

Have you picked a boy and girl name?  Yes!!!  Since about 20 weeks.

Did you pick your going home outfit?  Nope, I have to wait until the fall clothes come out so it will be a warm enough outfit.

  • Still team green here after 3 ultrasounds. We have another next week but will remain team green. I already have a son so I have tons of boys outfits but I bought one girls nb size outfit and a pink headband with bow and one pink blanket. I am taking lots of white and yellow outfits to the hospital. If it's a girl I told my mom and MIL they will be in charge of shopping for girls outfits while I'm in the hospital!

  • @cmcookaln‌ I had my husband hide the envelope. I don't trust myself!
  • I feel like I am so far behind! No name or coming home outfit picked out yet. Definitely no second thoughts even though I will have to have a fourth ultrasound at my 28 week appointment.

  • Doing great - we're opposite this time, I wouldn't mind knowing but DH isn't bothered at all. Our only potential issue is that DD is convinced it's a girl and gets mad if you talk about the baby being a boy… I think it will blow over either way once the baby is born, but I'm a little worried!

We have a handful of girl names we like and a sort-of favorite, but zilch for boys. We're WAY ahead compared to last pg, so I'm ok with it.

We were team green last time too, so DD moved to a new room and the nursery is staying neutral, I just need to get all the gear put away and her stuff out of the room.

No coming home outfits yet, need to wait for fall clothes to be out for warmer stuff. I got some clearance stuff a while back but it's 0-3 months and looks big… I will get a special girl and boy outfit, I don't want something neutral.

Last time I gave both my outfits to a close friend (who I knew would visit in the hospital) and had her wash the appropriate outfit, then I could return the other one. Plan to do the same thing again.

  • @andrieya - He has offered to take it from me, but I won't tell him where I put it.  He originally said he was going to burn it, but I told him absolutely not since it is a picture of our baby.
  • @cmcookaln‌ last night before we were to open ours, he freaked me out by telling me he lost it. I almost had a heart attack!!! Not funny....not funny at all!
  • Still happy to be team green:) if it's a boy, we are 100% we will name him after DH and FIL and probably call him trey, if it's a girl we have two names to choose from Claire Elizabeth (which we love!) or Ann Marie (a combination of my mothers middle name and MIL's middle name).

We don't have a going home outfit yet, but there's still time for that:)

Just can't wait for LO to be here! So ready:)
