Anyone had their glucose 1gr yet? Mines Monday and I can't remember much about last go round outside of the nausea.... Do you think it's better cold or room temp?
It's better cold but I didn't get a choice and had to drink it room temp. And I got the orange because that was all they had, yuck! The worst part for me was it gave me horrible heartburn. It was so bad my eyes were watering and I thought I was going to vomit lava.
I had red--tasted like red Gatorade. I don't normally drink stuff that sweet but I was expecting it to be completely unpalatable. It wasn't so bad--I chugged it in about a minute.
Cold is better. Didn't really have a problem with the orange one. I wouldn't drink it by choice or anything, but to hear everyone talk, I thought it was going to be the most vile drink ever. It wasn't.
I had cold last time and room temp this time. Cold was WAY easier to drink IMO. Like @kindacrunchy it just gave me pretty bad heartburn. But while pregnant just breathing funny gives me bad heartburn so who knows. Lol
Mine was room temperature but I didn't think it was bad at all. It tasted like flat lightly flavored sprite and it wasn't as large or sweet as I thought it would be (12 oz maybe?). It was easy for me to drink quickly and I didn't have any ill affects after but it also seems like I might be in the minority.

I know! I was like "Dude. There are some whiners on this board or else some people are getting straight garbage to drink, because I am just drinking orange soda." I mean. Do they give you different crap? I even said something to the nurse about being so nervous since it's awful and she said 99% of people who come in don't mind it at all. I mean. That they told the nurse, I guess. I don't know.
They gave me a choice of orange, lemon lime or fruit punch. I've had the orange before and wasn't a fan and I don't normally like fruit punch so I went with the lemon lime and it tasted kind of like a flat Sprite but a little bit sweeter.
I just did my 3 hr test on Wed after failing the 1 hr, both times did lemon lime. For me, it's not the actual liquid that sucks, it's how it makes you feel. The 3 hr fasting test is pretty much torture. It took everything I had to not vomit during that first hour after drinking it. Luckily, they let me stay in the exam room for the second hour and I passed out asleep.
I haven't had mine this time around yet, but I've had the orange and the red previously. The red was better than the orange in my opinion. Both were served at room temp - they weren't too terrible. My OB lets you eat before you go, which I think helped me in terms of nausea/ heartburn, so you may want to check with your provider to see if you could eat a little something before you take the drink.
I had red and it tasted like hawaiin punch. I chugged it cold and found it refreshing. My dr office said a lot of places are replacing orange with red. Let's hope you get red!
Cold is much better, and it's better to drink it fast and just get it out of the way. I puked in my mouth once but whatever you do keep that stuff down! They will make you retake it if you can't keep it down.
Cold is better. I didn't get a choice at either my one or my three hour GTT.... It was orange. The one hr wasn't too bad. Flat orange soda. The three hr....... That sucked. I felt like I was drinking orange syrup. And there was more to drink. And like pp said, I felt like crap afterward!

I had orange both times and I can say that cold is better. I swung through the McD's drive through on the way there and asked for a small glass of ice (and purchased 2 hasbrowns, yum) and poured it over that.
It was much easier to drink it down quickly that way.
I just wanted a cold vs RT opinion I have it at home with me and didn't know there were non orange options. And why? Because it's that time and it's on the brain and isn't that what this board business is for?
