Car Battery Question

So my car battery died.  Was completely corroded! Oh, and I'm five months overdue on getting inspected. How ya like that?! I never let this stuff go before the baby! Anywho, I live outside NYC and they replaced the battery and the terminal for $159. I have a 2004 Corolla. DH thinks it was high. Thoughts??

Re: Car Battery Question

  • @bunkinmama that's great! This city girl has always parked on the street and takes my car in for it ALL!

  • That's high in my book.

Battery for my car is not 100. You knock the corrosion off the terminals, pour some Coke on them, grease and put terminal pads on which should come with battery. Done.

I'm not paying for someone to take my old battery out and put a new battery in plus if you turn in the old you get a discount. It is the most simple thing to do. If you don't know how to do it check out some YouTube videos.
  • Sounds like a fair price to me. Sometime it depends on the kind of battery they used plus labor and all that jazz.

    It's a BOY

  • Labor to put a battery in?

Change a terminal? It's like changing a charger.

A lot of shops will charge you for whatever they think they can get away with.

Like I said though, I was charged 129 for a new battery and something else (long time ago. Can't remember) and I remember her telling me the price of the battery and it was much more than what I usually paid for a battery. And I know nothing about terminals so maybe I've been ripped off :(
