102 fever

Pretty sure I have the flu. Call my doc earlier said just to stay hydrated. But now my fever has went up.. Think I should go to the ER?

Re: 102 fever

  • Have you taken Tylenol? I might see if my fever responded to Tylenol before taking an exhausting trip to the ER (but I hate ERs and find them an enormous hassle).

I would call your doctor again and tell him about the temp. I thought they considered prescribing Tamiflu or some other antiviral to pregnant women. I would at least ask your doctors opinion on that. If it were me, I would make sure I was seen by someone by tomorrow afternoon. They can test you for the flu and other things that could cause the fever.

I had a fever during the first trimester and they thought it might be the flu and it ended up being strep throat.

  • Oh no! I'd call tour doc again just to be safe. You never know if it's a infection or something. At least if you call him and he wants you to be checked out, he can send you to L&D opposed to the ER.

If that fever doesn't go down within 1/2 hour - 45 mins, I would definitely call the on-call doc back. If your temp does go down and you're able to keep it within a safe range overnight, I would still call your OB tomorrow about testing for flu and possibly getting a prescription. Hope you feel better soon!!

Ugh i had the same symptoms early on with a severe bladder infection. First symptom low grade fever and then not keeping things down for over 24 hours so i went in and they found the infection i thought i had flu too. The antibiotics did help me but i didnt really start to feel better until like day 7 of 10! So keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery!
