Breastfeeding

Decreased wet diapers

Hey everyone haven't posted on here in a while since breastfeeding has been going really reallly well since 4 months but I now have a question/worry. I've noticed my LOs wet diapers have decreased a bit over the passes two days they are still wet just not soaking like they use to be. He's almost 8 months old started solids at 6 months just two times a day and the amounts have no increased or changed since he started, he is EBF and I stay at home so it's always available however since about 4-5 months of age he is like clock work with his feedings, in the am when he wakes, after his first nap, after his second nap, then before dinner around 5, nurse to sleep at 6:45 and then a dream feed at 10:30 - this has not changed at all, he does get distracted but usually gets a full feed in just takes longer ! All other things are completely normal no other signs of dehydration although it has been hotter here ! He's acting completely normal, should I be concerned that something is happening to my supply ?? I've upped my water I take and had some mothers milk tea, I don't respond well to the pump so that's pointless the only thing that changed for me is I took reactine ( allergy med) for about a week start just once a day could that have hurt my supply ?? I stopped it a few days ago ?? Has anyone else experienced this, the only thing that has changed are his decrease in wet diapers that's it and urine is not concentrated or anything like that, am I worrying over nothing ?? Thanks for any advice :)

Re: Decreased wet diapers

  • I haven't noticed that issue but it could be that because he's now getting more calories from solids, he doesn't need as much BM. I know my LO dropped his BM intake quite a bit once he became a serious eater around 6 months. He's continuing to eat more solids and less BM which I think is normal.

You can offer water to drink with solids too to make sure he's getting enough fluids. We do water in a toddler cup (because he refuses to use a sippy cup!) so he knows milk comes from bottles and water comes from a cup.
