Pregnant after a Loss

Blighted ovum first pregnancy now pregnant for second time nervous hope it's a healthy baby

edited July 2014 in Pregnant after a Loss
Hi all, I am new to here and came across bunch of forums and such eek some good and those the ones I want to associate with as we all need healthy and happy support through these times. I had a blighted ovum this passed April and had the pills and then we are now again pregnant with a due date of March 7th 2015 so very happy but at the same time very scared and need though to stay positive and hope that things will work out. Has anyone been through similar times? l also, am 25 years old healthy very active running is my thing and also am big on my healthy eating as well. Lots of fruits, fresh vegetables, cooked healthy carbohydrates, lots of water, fresh food in general and an amazing partner who is there for me is working and we both are working on getting our business going with healthy dog treats; but things are good and somehow still I am extremely nervous; we had a little fight as I kept saying it will be another blighted ovum again; but I don't blame myself after going through it once staying positive is def easier said than done but I am trying that's best  can do. Hope best and also a loss even being a blighted ovum is a tough tough thing to go through....but I won't give up trying.

  • I'm sorry for your loss. Congrats on the BFP! It's completely normal to be scared, but if you start to think the worst, remember today you are pregnant! And this is a completely different pregnancy. Hang in there!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to this board! I'm sorry for your prior loss. My first pregnancy was a blighted ovum, so I too am feeling a little scared about my current pregnancy. This board has been really helpful and supportive and I think it's important to relax and enjoy the current pregnancy.

I did read a scientific journal article about pregnancies after a loss. The researchers found that women who were pregnant within six months of a miscarriage had high rates of healthy pregnancy. So that was encouraging to me. I also just try to remember that this is a totally different pregnancy and that it's rare to have two blighted ova in a row.

  • First of all, Congrats on the BFP!  It was so nice to read your post as I'm in the same boat.  I had a blighted ovum back in March with a D&C and it was devastating.  I'm at 5wks 5 days currently, and found out I was pregnant again on July 2nd.  My first doctor's appointment is on Monday and I'm just praying they will do an ultrasound and confirm there is truly a little baby in there.  I feel like it doesn't quite feel real yet. I was so excited the first time, but am now so hesitant to start thinking about the baby, and names, and all of those fun things.  From everything I've heard, the statistics are in our favor, its pretty uncommon to have a second B/O after having one, so I try to remind myself of that and stay positive.  I hope all goes well for you.  Thank you for sharing, it was so nice to see someone else dealing with a similar situation. Fingers crossed for a sticky baby!  Good luck and congrats again!

  • Welcome, congrats, and ((hugs))!

  • @tunnel- First ultrasound went relatively well, they were able to see a yolk sac, but no fetal pole/heartbeat yet.  The doctor said before we even went in for the ultrasound that I was right on the edge as far as timing to be able to see a fetal pole, and it was very possible we would not, but it was still a little dissappointing.  The good news is, we know it's not a blighted ovum again, since they saw the yolk sac.  I'm still very on edge, and nervous to get excited without having seen the heartbeat.  We go back this Friday for a follow up ultrasound, so hopefully all will go well and I'll finally be able to start getting excited about having a baby.  Fingers crossed!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy. I completely understand your scare! I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks and the baby was measuring 7 weeks with no heartbeat.. Stay strong and pray! Sending t&p!
  • Congratulations and welcome!
