Double vs Single insemination for IUI

I'm sure this has been discussed here before but I haven't seen it - curious if your RE's have double insemination as part of their protocol or if they just do a single? Last cycle I did a double insemination (on 2 consecutive days). My RE said "There's some research that shows it could increase your chances by ensuring we nail the timing but many specialists don't advocate it because studies haven't shown a huge difference. It's a personal decision on whether you'd like to try it." Obviously that cycle didn't work. But I'm just thinking ahead and wondering if I should continue to go for the double insemination or if that's overkill and I should just do single. This cycle we will only be able to do single because DH is leaving to go out of town early tomorrow AM.

Single, but we were using donor sperm, so double would get expensive.

I have done 2 IUI's with B2B insems, BFN's!! This time I only did one insem, just because of the timing and office hours. At first the office wanted me to trigger, do TI, then come in for an insem, but I said no, I prefer to just come in for the one insem then do TI the next night. (Reason being DH's numbers always seem to tank from one collection to the next)...I am hoping this new routine is successful! I really don't think one or two statistically makes a difference. If you can afford it and like peace of mind, go for the B2B! If not, no worries, the best and the brightest are going in, and it only takes one!

We only do single, but we are MFI, so the 2nd sample would probably be awful!

My clinic does two B2B IUI's normally. They said they believe it gives you a slightly better chance. I only did one on our first medicated cycle due to timing issues.

Our RE does one the morning after my first OPK. They said I could go with a trigger instead but so far the timing worked fine for me (as confirmed by ultrasound).

I, too, had heard that back to back IUI has a slightly higher chance (like a percentage point I think), but since we have male factor infertility, and our insurance pays for one each month, I wouldn't really consider back to back.

Our RE did one, but she told us to intercourse after 12 hours to have a little bt of higher chances... we had to wake up at 3am for that! urgh

Only one for us (RE never mentioned option of two) then we BD that night and the following day/night.

My RE did one but told us to have sex that night as well. In all our discussions he has never mentioned B2B IUI's.

My RE does B2B IUI's and so far I have had two cycle with BFN. This cycle I'm going to try TI because I want to get the sperm right before the 36 hour after the trigger. My doctor doesn't due the 36 hours IUI because he restricts IUI's to the morning hours as well.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. I did B2B IUI's last month but I'm not convinced it really has any value. This month we did 1 (and then BD'd that night). I was just curious how common it was to do B2B.
